Golden Nugget March

Wife and I ask the same question at the 24 Karat Club every trip. Wife receives a mailer from the 24 Karat Club with special offers. They are free slot play, supposed to be special room rate (same as online or close) a slot tournament deal for a $100 entry fee and a few meals comped. Well every time she has a choice of either the room rate or the slot tournament along with her free slot play. Keep in mind that the tournament is not free the Topsy Turvy one she still pays the $100 fee. Now here the question w enever have any problem with the free slot play or the room rate but they have told us time and time again you cannot take advantage of the free slot play and play in the tournament together. Yet day in and day out during our stay the phone in the room there is a message says "to come join the fun and play in the tournament only $100 entry fee." Last visit in March there were three people besides my wife that ask why the offer was for only free play, the room rate or the tournament. The answer is always the same WE DON'T KNOW BUT YOU CAN ONLY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ONE OR THE OTHER. This trip they really pissed off two of the other customers and they walked out of the Nugget and swore they would never be back. It baffles me about the tournament what's the big deal they are not giving it to you they are still charging you to enter. Has anyone ever ran into this problem at the GN. Hopefully the GN will have someone read this message and maybe supply the answer.
"Hopefully the GN will have someone read this message and maybe supply the answer."

This is a private message board for subscribers. It would be highly unlikely that a GN employee is going to read your message and answer it here.

If you have a question for the GN, why not simply call or write them with it?
I have tried as many others have tried to get an explanation on this. My question is they charge you regular price to enter the tournament, then leave messages everyday on your phone and then tell you if you take come on down and enter it. Then they tell you if take advantage of any other offer on the mailer (free Slot play, room rate) you cannot even enter the tournamnet. Now my wife gets the mailer from 24 Karat mine comes through the Private Arrangements. Everytime they tell me I can play but my wife cannot play not even sub for me. You are correct about them not reading the message I just wondered if any other members has run into this problem. As I said there were three other people that had the same question so we all wnet in together to get the answer. I don't understand and I truly believe the Club people don't understand how it works. I mean you are not getting a discount you are paying full price to enter it what's the big deal. In March they really pisse doff a few players and they walked out even before the host even finished answering the question. You would think they would want as many in the tournament as they can get but they really deter against it. I questioned the Host if they had their choice of either the $100 in free play or pay $100 to enter the tournament and lose the $100 free play just to play in the tournament what would they do. They one Host came bakc and said it's a no brainer I take the free slot play. So if anyone has ran into this issue please reply. If not the wife will just take the free slot paly and we can visit other casinos instead of playing and waiting aorund for her scheduled time to play in the tournamnet. The latter is more fun any how.
Just a thought....why not check in, get the free slot play and play it and THEN enter the tournament onsite rather than booking the tournament in advance? Obviously one can enter onsite if they are calling your room to encourage you do so.

Might work.

So your question boils down to you were told you cannot take advantage of two offers on your stay, and have to chose between free play or a discounted slot tournament, and you want to know why?

It is a common policy at many casinos that you can only take advantage of one offer when you book. This is nothing unique to Golden Nugget. You then say you want to know why? The answer is that is their policy, which once again is common in the industry.

The other part I see is that you want to know why their automated system is leaving messages about the tournament when you chose the freeplay. The simple answer is that the phone message system does not have access to information about if you took the free play or not. When I stay at GN, I always get spam from them on my room voice messages, advertising tournaments and other "deals", which I have learned to ignore.
wjkomo---The problem is you can take advantage for the free slot play and the room rate no problem. then try to enter the slot tournament which is not discounted and they say you cna't enter. My question to the slot club is WHY?? Anyone can enter the slot tournament for $100. What happens and we have tried several ways. We have taken the room rate and the free play no problem. Then go and sign up for the tournament and they check and tell you you cannot enter becasue you have taken the free play and room rate. I feel the problem is that someone wrote the rules never paid any attention to what they printed and it just goes on and on (just pissing customers off). Believe me the average employee at the GN does not want to rock the boat by asking questions so they just read the rules and give you an answer. It sad but it almost sounds like a no brainer. I could understand it if the tournamnet was discounted (but you are paying regular fee) and you were trying to take advantage of two deals but that is not the case. As I said we have questioned this more than two or three times and every time the answer varies. The really sad thing is the remodeling that has been done and the changes (most) have been for the better but here again you are comparing it to the Tim and Tom days and not the Steve Wynn days. What ever the traffic will bare I guess.
