Hard Rock Sucks

I just got back from a 2 night stay at the Hard Rock. My last trip was in January.

Since that time Morgans has left and I have to say that my experience was not as great as it was previously.

Things that suck now:

1. They have taken out all the 9/6 JoB machines a $1 and less. I played the $2 in the high limit room and they have the 3 machines directly under the AC vent. The air blows very hard and its almost impossible to play. A couple of times when the cocktail waitress came by, she mentioned how cold it was. Maybe this is a reason I was the only one in the High Limit Room?? The High Limit staff was also bored because of no customers and they were talking very loud.... it was distracting as a player.

2. Johnny Smalls lunch for $15.99 was gross. Sushi unbelievably bad... canned tuna in the spicy tuna roll? Corn Dogs were saturated with grease. I went for dinner last time in January and it was very good.

3. Stop Booking Hip Hop Entertainers for the Joint and Pool. This attracts a bunch of pimps that wear pants down to there knees exposing back and front! not exactly the rock n roll crowd.

4. Mr. Lucky's was very bad at even the 50% off I get for being a Platinum member. We went 2 times and both times were bad. Service was better the first time. Service was absolutely terrible the 2nd time for lunch. The t-bone was a joke. Teriyaki Chicken was very salty. The Manager did not approach any customers and just hid by the hostess.

5. Housekeeping - We had a wet sticky stain in our carpet when we checked in. The next day she never restocked toilet paper or shampoo. (Even with a $5 tip).

6. Email Survey - This is a great idea to send an email survey after I check out. Too bad the link does not work in the email.

7. June Promo - Why do I care about a drawing on Friday when I won't be in town?

8. Free Spa Credit for Platinum - I reached Platinum this trip and was suppose to get a $125 Spa Credit. It never appeared on the promo terminal and the players club rep told me that I need to wait because I just got Platinum 36 hours ago???

9. Pink Taco was good.... The 99 cent tacos could have been better if the fresh tortillas were not pre-made 2 hours earlier.

More importantly, how was the poon-tang at the circle bar?

Noticed the issue with the vent as you describe in high limit. I've been in casinos before where it's cold but this is absurd. The vent blows directly down and it never cycles off. The floor people in high limit know all about it but in the nicest possible way told us there was nothing that can be done....piss poor design. I finally asked for the shift manager to come over as no one could tolerate this for any length of time. Of course, he was a no show but they did provide us with HRH sweatshirts. The staff was great but the design and management response (or lack thereof) was poor.

That room is already a ghost town....leave the poor vent situation as it is and keep downgrading games and they can turn it into a storage room soon.

For the spa treatment, I would suggest asking for a host. Some people in the players club have `tude and I try not to waste my time with them if I don't have to.

Overall I agree that this place has taken a slide.

Pherx,

So sorry about your experience. I got really annoyed for you while reading about it and it was also so ridiculous that it had started to become comical -- though I know it didn't feel that way to you!

This is so unfortunate as the casino is such a nicer looking casino now post renovations and I had HRH on my places to give one heavy day of play, especially with the 9/6 JoB. Now, I think not.

Sorry again about your troubles but appreciate the info.

Hi FFlowers,

Unless you're figuring on playing $1 and up single line 9/6 JoB at HRH, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

There is a sense of impending doom for vp players here. They've systematically taken out all of the reasonable plays. It didn't happen all at once but was rather done gradually over the last 2-3 months.

The message to vp players is that unless you're a sucker, we don't want your play here. Maybe they'll call it quits and let what exists stand but their track record thus far doesn't indicate this.

Dan
Hey Dan,

It's been too long! My bankroll will be a bit bigger than usual for this trip and I can swing $1 for a low-volatile VP game like JoB, but I don't like the sound of things generally. Pherx also said even the $1 FP JOB is gone and while I periodically do mega hands of quarter STP I normally am not a $2 VP player.

It really is too bad. I'm not crazy about the "feel" of the casino but I do like the "look" if that makese sense. It was growing on me with the new renovations but there are too many places to play and I'm going to be focusing on a few places this next trip rather than move around a lot.

Hope all is well!
Been a bit late getting back to this thread FFlowers so I apologize.

There was $1 and $2 JoB there in high limit but it's toast.

Migrated to .25 8/5BP 10 play but went in yesterday and it's been downgraded to 7/5.

We're literally running out of things to play there.

The local offers are decent but without games to play, it's pretty futile. There's a new marketing director there so maybe this will change for the better or perhaps the change is due to his arrival. He started June 1st.

As you say, nice property but if you're there for the gamble, there are better options.

Let us know when you're in town and maybe we can catch up for a drink.

Dan
Hey Dan,

Thanks for the info. Yep, HR is off my list. You know I'm moving into hyper-trip-planning mode LOL so factoring in one less casino makes things a tad easier.

I arrive in the evening of 8/18 and depart the morning of 8/28. Big brother joins me I think on 8/23. If you are there then would be great to see you two again.
We should be in town the entire time sans the weekend of August 20-21. Let's make a plan to exchange PM's nearer the time and see if there's a time/place that makes sense for the two of you.

Dan
Sounds like a plan.
