Has anyone stayed at the Hilton lately?

We're coming to LV the end of September for 9 days. We always stay at the Hilton for most of the days because they have good promotions and my husband is Honors gold so we get the goodies. I'm getting worried that it's not going to be the same. I know that they have removed a lot of the machines and have ruined the vp but I'm wondering if it's still a nice place to stay. We can always play elsewhere but I don't want dirty rooms and rude employees. Anybody have an opinion?

Thanks for all your help for this and all past information I have gleaned from these boards.
I still like it a lot. I still think it's a nice room for the price (I'm a low roller and get decent specials sent to me - never free). I've been there earlier this year, and I did notice less slot machines and they took the ones I liked best. Have you tried the M Resort? Depending on the price, it is nicer than the Hilton. I really liked it - but it's usually a higher price.
I've not tried M resort. Like you, we are low rollers but get decent offers, 4 nights $139. My husband is Honors gold so we get the room upgrades and free buffets so that makes it a great deal. After they lose the Hilton affiliation I'm not sure we'll continue to stay there because the classic rooms were showing their age the last time we had to stay in one. Offers are going out this week so we'll probably stay there one more time! Thanks for the info.
Stayed there 7/5-7/10 and didn't notice any decline from previous visits. The room was clean, maid service was fine, seemed to be fairly busy for that time of year. We didn't eat any meals there, so I can't comment on the food. They had 9/6 JOB for nickels, quarters, 50-cents & dollars (maybe for higher amounts also, but I didn't check). Since we always have a rental car, I like the ease of getting in & out of the Hilton & not having to deal with Strip traffic. It gets my vote...

I stayed at the Hilton in July for the LV film fest. Room and staff were nice. Even paid me $10/day (food voucher) not to clean the room.
Was there in April. Not bad at all. I don't think you can beat the Hilton for ease of parking so close to the Strip. I like it for convenience to walk downtown or to the south end of the Strip - this may not be a priority for everyone. Don't play the sports book, but nice place to see a game.

The buffet is still one of my favorite's. It is by no means the biggest in town, but you get free beer at dinner, they always have lox for breakfast, the fruits and vegetables are very fresh - it makes up in quality what it lacks in quantity.

I hope the property survives in whatever new form it has to take. Even though Hilton Honors member, not usually relevant at that property, due to the many offers the players club extends to even a very low roller such as I.

I don't care about shows in Vegas usually, so I don't care about the acts there. I will agree, though, that they do have some headline acts I have never heard of anywhere else, even in other parts of Vegas. And, yes, they have reduced the machine inventory somewhat, although I have seen it advertised as "providing more space to the player". Yeah, right. Any casino's dream is to pack 'em in like sardines and still have people coming in thru the door. I like Stiff & George's prediction of "The H," Imagine "The H Bomb" jokes if they take that name.
We stayed there in May and at first I was a little disappointed that we were in the east tower until I realized how convenient the sports book parking lot was to the east tower elevators. We always got a spot in that lot even on Derby day. It was a little bit of a walk to get to the casino, but I'll happily take that trade off.
Now that the current mgmt has defaulted on their loans, maybe Hilton will snatch it back up at a discount and revive the property.

Although off strip it's proximity to the convention center is a huge plus
Stayed there in July. Like the North tower, remodeled rooms. I am also a Hilton honors member. Besides the buffet, room upgrade, I love the spa, seperate areas for female and males, two hot tubs on each side and three saunas. Great place to get ready in the morning and to relax in the afternoon. You can not beat the Sat and Sun free brunch buffet, crab legs, my favorite. Had not heard about the possibility of this property losing the Hilton status, would like to know more about this.
The Hilton Corporation has not renewed it's contract with Resorts. Do a search and you will find the link to the story. Current contract expires early January so unless something changes, no more goodies for Hhonors members. It's a sad thing, we love the Hilton. I told my husband we probably wouldn't stay there anymore after January, he said why not? We still like the place, and he's right! We won't get upgraded rooms or free breakfast but we'll still be there.
