Has anyone tried staying or playing at Westgate Resort & hotel was (LVH)

I keep getting online offers from Westgate and the room pics they show are looking very good. I looked at Yelp reviews and it appears not all the rooms have been renovated yet. Someone commented on the Sportsbook only and said it was still topnotch.

Anyone try playing or staying there?
One of the worst stays of my life in LV, and I had some bad ones.

They were all screwed up is the best way to describe it. Could not get the room type right, safe did not work and I had to wait about 2 hours for it to work and then it stopped working and had to change rooms a few times, elevator noise in room ....heard another couple say that had no electricity in the room and they could not move them since it was full (I would have gone to another place) just bad juju all around.

My girlfriend was waiting for me with the luggage by the old room waiting for me to come back and it took so long other guests who had seen her waiting before thought she had no place to stay etc...

Just an awful place, maybe they got the bugs out.

I would try it again for free but I would not pay anything to stay there ever again. Pool was OK.

Plus every two steps they want you to buy there. My response was are you Freaking Kidding Me???

I did not play there much, the sports book there is nice.

Vantzy, how long ago were you there?
Our stay was great last week. Staff was cool, room was nice and we didn't get stuck with a resort fee. We stayed on the $59 deal for 3 nites. Have been staying at Hilton, LVH for years so had something to compare it to. Was expecting a nightmare but was pleasantly surprised. Benihana was still good.

Sorry I was off net for a bit, I was there in Nov. Maybe they got their act together by now.
My wife and I were there for NFC/AFC championships in January. I used their offer "get approved for a 10K credit line and get a free suite". They gave us 2 adjoining rooms completely unremodeled and shabby. We are used to M Resort, Wynn ect. This was a big disappointment. As far as I could tell the only HD on the property was in their sports theater. The pool and spa were closed for remodeling.

As far as gambling goes I did find a bank of $1 9/6 JOB in the "Super book". BJ rules are OK. There was 1 crap table in action $10 3/4/5 times odds. I signed and lost 3 - $1000 markers. Basically lost equally at VP, Blackjack and craps. They do give points on sports bets, there goes another $1000. After all that action I have not received any follow up marketing offers, probably a good thing since my wife never wants to go there again! I think I ended up with a $38 point credit on my card.

They are also trying to hustle into timeshare presentations.
Just curious.

Is this the same outfit (Seigel?) that went bankrupt and had to vacate the Westgate timeshare factory they had going at Planet Hollywood?

The couple featured on "Queen of Versailles" bio on CNBC?

He blew their 'fortune' on the construction of a mansion in Florida, in the style of the Versailles Palace in France (with same number of rooms!) that was never completed and went to pot, and he couldn't sell what was left of it? Old guy, young wife? They were counting on the Westgate at PH to make them rich, but the economy tanked and they were so deep in debt from that failure and way overspending on the mansion and they couldn't see a way out, at the time that show was filmed.
I don't have an answer to that, Candy.

My experience with Westgate so far has been iffy. I played one day last June when it was still LVH. I only did $7900 coin in on the $1 DDB progressive and lost $1900. They sent me a letter offer for October, November, and December with 4 free nights and a free upgrade, $500 free play, golf for 2 at Las Vegas Country Club, and 2 free tickets to Raiding the Rock Vault. I booked all three months. Then, Raiding the Rock Vault left and there were no show tickets I wanted, although they did offer to replace them with another on-property show. They made a tee time for my husband and when he got to the course he couldn't play because there was a TOURNAMENT going on! They gave me a one-bedroom suite that wasn't really a suite -- it was two connecting rooms, one was a regular king room and the other one had a murphy bed and living area. There was nothing, at all, special about them, and the beds were not comfortable.

The offers have been inconsistent. I received another one with $450 free play and then it came with $100 free play (while I had increased my play!), and the last one for April, May, June, came with $350 free play. No show tickets are being offered anymore.

We book and play, but stay elsewhere. The beds are just too uncomfortable and the rooms really need to be renovated. I asked once if we could get one of the newly remodeled Signature rooms, but was told in VIP that the owner told them those rooms are to generate revenue, not to be given to players (WTF?!). Since learning that, I have also read a review of the new rooms on VegasChatter that totally slammed them, saying they were redone very cheaply, etc…

The old cafe was reasonably priced and had decent food and good service, but they closed that and opened Sid's in the space where high limit used to be. Now the prices are as bad or worse than strip properties ($22 for a breakfast plate?). Sid's does, however, have an excellent New England style lobster roll on the lunch menu (I didn't try it, but hubby, who is from Massachusetts, said it was excellent).

I've booked the April, May, and June offers and will go play, but I'm going to cut it back and phase them out. There are just too many places to play to keep this place on the list (at this point). Maybe in the future they'll get all of the rooms renovated… and hopefully, not as cheaply as reported on VegasChatter.
Thanks for the info.
I was hoping they were able to make it a nice place to stay and to play.

We haven't been to LV for about 6 months and have a trip booked for May, staying at Bally's for a tournament at Rio.

I wanted to stop at Westgate to play and check it out for future stays, but don't think I'm going to waste any of my 72 hours in LV.
I stayed there April 2, 3, and 4 in a renovated room. Work was being done in the pool area and marble was being installed in the main casino area. The room itself was not awful. There is not much they can do about the tiny size of the bathroom and I was glad that my friend was not with me this trip since there was no way 2 women could do their hair and get ready for the evening in such a cramped space. The bed was not uncomfortable. The thing that bothered me the most at Westgate was an unpleasant odor in the Sports Book area where there are several banks of video poker machines.
