Has anyone tried staying or playing at Westgate Resort & hotel was (LVH)

We went over last week and the difference in the place on this trip from our last one a few months ago, was tremoudous. They have put a LOT of money into the casino, the sportsbook has to be the best I've ever seen, looks like all the marble flooring and all carpet is brand new and the place was packed with people gambling. This on a Wednesday afternoon, early evening. We went back over for the opening of the Elvis Exhibition on Thursday, got to rub shoulders with Robin Leach and even Priscilla Presley and the place was hoping at 10 AM. Don't know what the rooms are like, but the casino is doing things right!
why does it seem so rare that a new makeover or new owners of a casino rarely does anything right? it always seem like they have listened to player feedback. and then went the opposite direction. competent staff, a basic clean comfortable room, a good gamble.... etc, not asking for too much.
We stayed there Sun.-Th. the second week of this month. The hotel seemed pretty busy because there was a Golden Gloves boxing tournament going on and many of the participants seemed to be staying there. We have been staying there quite a bit over the last five years or so, so obviously we like it. My wife liked the upgrades to the pool area. We ate the buffet for breakfast because we had two freebies as part of our room offer and it was fine. I wouldn't pay $16.99 for it though, but I don't like to pay that anywhere. Our Central tower room was fine, I think the Central tower rooms used to be the least desirable, but our room seemed to be remodeled. We've always been fine with the interior and exterior of the property and it appears Westgate has been doing some sprucing up of the interior.
The new restaurant Sid's Cafe seemed pricey and didn't seem to be doing a whole lot of business and without the boxing tourney I'm sure they would have been doing less. The food may be good, I don't know, but it was too pricey for us to find out.
We like the place, so I hope Westgate is successful and continues to send us offers.
I stayed there in April as well for 3 nights. Stayed in a renovated room, so it was better than last year. They gave me a room right below the top floor, and had a great view. Beds were great. Didn't eat there, they reopened their buffet, but it was over $20 for breakfast. Had a car and went to Ellis Island instead. Played 9/6 Job VP, I didnt like being accosted by Timeshare people everytime I walked through lobby. Now that Riviera is closed, Westgate has taken over our APA National Pool tournament, so I'll be returning in August.

Westgate was my Las Vegas home for 3 nights earlier this month and it is likely that I will never go back. 1) When making the reservation, I was assured that it would be for the Central Tower because there are some issues with my foot that had multiple breaks and hasn't healed correctly. The Central Tower location minimizes the amount of walking. At check-in they gave me the North Tower and I was told the Central Tower would require an upcharge of $20/night. 2) There were significant gaps in the alignment of the doors in my North Tower room. I could hear every word, cringe with every shout, from the two guys in the room connecting to mine. Tried to reduce the noise by filling the gaps with newspapers, broken down boxes and towels with only slight success. Pictures of this mess have made my family giggle since I got home. It was also necessary to block the hallway door with my luggage & anything else I could find in the room when it was time to sleep because, again, there was such a large space where the door was supposed to meet the floor that every hallway noise or conversation sounded like those folks were in the room with me. 3) The window was so dirty that it was difficult to determine what the view was until after I cleaned at least the inside glass. 4) I was promised a reduction in my room charges by a host that never came through. All in all, it was the low point of my 23-day trip.
