Here’s What’s Ahead for Rio, Including New Room Renovation Pics

Why would anyone have an incentive to stay at the Rio? At one time, the Rio had the best buffet in Vegas - and they ruined it. Now they are going to turn the buffet space into ANOTHER food court - how novel. The current cheap room pricing is totally negated by the rip off "resort" fees, currently $39.95 and sure to esculate, as they all have done. The location is not convenient, the gambling is bad, no buffet - in other words, there are many other better choices for one to stay and gamble in Veags. If they really want to draw visitors, they should reinstate the buffet to it's once great level/ranking, get rid of the rip-off "resort fee" and make table games and video poker affordable and playable with good games and pay schedules. Otherwise they will remain the loser that Gary Loveman and Caesars have made them.

I know that many people like buffets.  I do not.

I know that many people do. Whether I do or not is immaterial to any decisions casino companies make. What SHOULD be a factor in their decisions is how popular buffets are. Set one up with pricing and quality equivalent to a locals' casino buffet pre-pandemic, and the place will be Absolutely. Fucking. Mobbed. And maybe the buffet itself won't make or maybe will even lose money. So bloody what? Tens of thousands of people trapped in the bowels of the casino with bulging bellies. That's a recipe for printing money!

Bringing back the free shuttle to and from the strip would be a good Idea as well.  get together with the Gold Coast and Palms  and split the costs.  I'm guessing the majority of Vegas visiors never see that side of the freeway, it sure isn't an advisable walk!

Yeah, it's longer than it looks and kind of dodgy as well. But a free shuttle would cost money, and though the net effect would be strongly positive, the casino monkeys can't think that far ahead; plus, their mindset is "The lemmings will come here even if all we do for them is kick them in the ass," which so far, is a perfectly accurate perception. The mad rush to Vegas of recent years has convinced them that things like free shuttles are luxuries that the hordes aren't entitled to.

Remember, when you go to Vegas, unless you're a high roller, you're pocket lint to them, and all they want is for you to dump your money as fast as possible and get the hell out of town. When you're riding the free shuttle, you're not gambling--so, no more free shuttle.
