Hilton Update?

Seems nothing new in awhile on LV Hilton. Thinking might be worth our time to give it a shot during upcoming trip.

Anyone have any recent experience and can comment on comps, rooms and the casino? Anyone have a good host they could recommend?

As always, many thanks

Marc
We were there at Christmas. Rooms are good. Hotel is right on the monorail. Casino is quite good (Spacequest casino is closing/closed) but the main one is OK. Best video poker is in the Sports Book. Buffet is good and reasonably priced. Lots of free drinks when playing video poker.

I was a regular at LVH until three years ago. They were giving me good offers, assigned me a host, and, as a Hilton gold member, I could always get upgrades. In fact, I usually requested one specific room and almost always got it. Then I noticed something strange: The more I played, the less I got. First they took away my host and then they downgraded the offers to the point where they weren't even worth considering. At the same time, I noticed a negative change in their inventory, with old machines replacing newer ones, and fewer machines overall. So I quit going and switched to a combination of GVR, RR, and M for the past few years, all of which I'm very satisfied with.

This year, my offers from LVH have improved, actually somewhat even better than in the past. A friend of mine stayed there recently and told me that the machine inventory had improved. (But she wasn't very happy with the room as they gave her one with a Murphy bed!) So I thought I would check out LVH again, and called the "VIP line" to make reservations for July. Not only would they not take a request for a particular room, they wouldn't even take a request (not a guarantee, mind you, just a request) for a room type (i.e. non-smoking, particular tower, etc.). So I called a host (randomly selected), and left a message asking if she could help me. I never heard back. I then emailed my host at GVR and received a confirmation within an hour, including the type of room and the tower I wanted.

LVH used to be a great place, but, IMHO, it's gotten progressively worse since Hilton sold it. As of this month, I think, they've stopped all cash back. Yes, they have some good VP, but so do all 3 of the places I now frequent, and the accommodations, restaurants, and perks at RR, GVR, and M are much better than LVH, in my opinion. But most of all, I'm convinced that LVH really doesn't care about its customers. Unless that changes, I'll not be going back.
several LVH diehards have posted on falling out of love with the property in the last few years. Most were much bigger players than I was, and I doubt I'll ever make the LVH my home casino again. Yes, I've heard of the murphy bed rooms, but never gotten one. I have been all over the property, and never disliked a room. I wish they hadnt killed cashback, since that was the last straw: I would have given up the fraction of a percent cashback to keep playing full pay on slant tops-i have issues in the forepaws- as long as there was some return on my loyalty. Now, if I want to stay there, I just priceline the convention center, and the worse case scenario is the renaissance instead of LVH, and I like the renaissance really well. To sum up, I won almost as much there as any other joint, given the craps tourney from '04 where I bet dark all the way to the money. But, same as lvfritz and others, this was a case where i couldn't bring myself to stay in love with the upholstery. Good luck!

The Hilton website is accepting reservations into 2012
Last time I was there they has removed 1/4 of their machine inventory- it's a wasteland to any real gambler.
ElCortez has more action
shame too- I loved playing in the sportbook area

that is so odd, because BAGIANT on the free side announced breaking news that they were changing their name in 30 days......2 months ago. his girlfriends brother's former roommate's stepson's cousin works there, you know

If I remember correctly werent they sold several years ago and part of the agreement they could keep using the Hilton name for I think it was 2 years providing they met Hilton standards for the hotel side of things?
Hilton actually only owns very very few of their hotels now. most of them are just managed by Hilton. I can tell you that the employee rate does not seem to be available for Hilton employees at the LV Hilton, but the friends and family rates are available well into 2012.

We are going in July for a comped slot tournament. If they drop their Hilton affiliation, that's the end for us. Being able to get the breakfast buffet as a Hilton Honors Gold member worked for us. We were disappointed with the loss of machines, I hope the lounge or nightclub whatever it is in the Star Trek casino works for them, it doesn't work for us.

We haven't stayed at the Palms, but have had good outcomes when we've played there most trips. We are looking for a new casino/hotel to replace the Hilton, would the Palms or Southpoint fill the void for us. We play a combination of v/p and slots. We're going low roller this year, so not expecting a lot of comps, just a nice room(reasonably priced) and a good friendly place to play. (Prefer a casino with great ventilation to remove cigarette smoke)
