Hilton Update?

We're going low roller this year, so not expecting a lot of comps, just a nice room (reasonably priced) and a good friendly place to play. (Prefer a casino with great ventilation to remove cigarette smoke)

Hey raisin7,

There is a thread on one of these LVA Message Boards about Palms now charging a $12 per day Resort Fee (which may very well not get comped according to what I'm understanding), so please be aware of that.

south point is reasonable as you'd expect in this economy. Im making my monday getaway from SP for only 42 USD, next month. The rooms are better than the hilton. They have coffee in the room. It is huge, even compared to the LVH, as the walk to the elevators is, I think, longer. Some love the palms, and I cant even find the hundred play JOB for a points bounce there. Look for lvfritz to chime in here soon about the SP. He, also is a LVH refugee. Good Luck!
Thanks, since I'll be in LV for almost a week, it will give me some looking around time. I'll try and spend some quality time at SP to get a feel for the place.

Thanks for the heads up on the Palms resort fee, we usually don't need any of the items the resort fee covers so for us as with others it is a waste of our money.

You're very welcome! I just wanted to make sure that you didn't end up with an unpleasant surprise in the end about money that you didn't know that you'd have to pay!

Hey Group,

Here is an update about LV Hilton!

I just came back this afternoon (6/30) from a visit to town and I heard on the news this morning on Channel 5 the local Fox affiliate who said that the people who own the building want to cease their relationship with the Hilton Hotel Corporation and have some other Hotel company run the hotel.

Actually, I think it's the other way around. This story indicates that it's Hilton that wants to end the relationship as of 1/1/12.
I wonder what it will be called next year, it took me a long time to call the Reno Hilton the Grand Sierra.

After our slot tournament in July, we will bid goodbye to the LVH.
I got a mailing from LVH advertising their new 'Ultimate Fan Cave" sportsbook(non smoking). I called to see if they had made the whole sportsbook non smoking-nope, they removed the slots and vp machines from the side rooms(I think where "Sex and the City" slots were located). Maybe they plan to have a giant sportsbook and a night club/lounge and nothing else, who knows what they are thinking.

I still call it the Barbary Coast , ................ cause I like that name better than the new name.

Thanks, that certainly could be because I came in on the report and I did understand that the relationship between the Hilton and the land owner was going to change and so I figured that it might have been the land owner who wanted the change and not necessarily the Hotel chain itself.

Hilton also parting ways with the AC Hilton. Not sure if I read that here or elsewhere yesterday.
