How can I use 50% Palms coupon for room when I have to pay in advance?

If I book on the web they will charge me up-front for the room. I even tried to call and they said I would have to be charged up front for the room. So how do you go about using the coupon? Will they credit you back after the fact? Thanks.
Charge your food to the room and use it then.
I only want to use it toward the room, not interested in using it for something else, thanks.
I'd try to give them a call and explain the coupon. Are you sure that you are pre-paying when you book online? More often than not, they may "authorize" your card or charge you for the first night of a multi-night stay, but usually the majority of your stay isn't actually charged until check-out.

If you are only staying for one night, and they charge for the first night, they can probably just refund you the $50 at check-out.

UPDATE - I did a quick reservation quote on Palms.com. Based on what I found, I am guessing you are staying for only one night? Palms always charges one-night to your card as a deposit. If you are staying multiple nights, the remainder won't be charged until checkout, so you wouldn't have any issues using the coupon at checkout.

If you are staying only one night, it is best if you call and get it direct from the source, but again, I suspect they would simply be able to refund 50% (up to $50) back to your card at checkout.

It depends on whom you are booking with. If you're booking online through a third party (such as Expedia or something), then they will charge you for the room, and you can't use the coupon at the hotel. If you're booking on the Palms' website directly, they should only charge you for the first night when you book.
If you have to pay upfront for the first night or are only staying one night and book directly through Palms, will they honor the coupon at checkout?
That's what I want to know. I don't want to stay 2 nights. I already looked on line and called them too, and you have to be charged up front. The lady on the phone didn't know the answer to my question about the coupon and she transferred me to nowhere. I was thinking that someone on this site must have done this before, but I guess not....
When you check out they will recalculate your bill with the 50% off coupon and then credit your credit card for any amount overcharged.

One thing to keep in mind is that the coupon is only valid Sunday through Thursday. I know I have been able to use it towards my Friday/Saturday stay when checking out on Sunday, which makes me wonder if I would not be able to use it for a Wednesday/Thursday stay checking out on Friday.

Have I raised more questions than I have answered?
You make a good point there, vegasnow. Thanks for your helpful answer and your input.
