If you've stayed at Arizona Charlies-Decatur

How is it to stay there? I know it's going to be a basic room but is the hotel/casino in an ok area? Which downtown casino/hotel would you compare it to?

My husband will be staying there soon and is a little worried about it. He has to attend a class at the Red Rock Resort and they were more expensive than we'd like plus were sold out one of the nights as was Suncoast (they were sold out two out of the three nights). JW Marriott was available but again, a little more $$ than we wanted to spend for this since we will be in Vegas later in July for our vacation.

try to find something else even if you have to pay a little extra just your basic hotel . was in the same situation a few years ago and could not find a room and was more or less forced to stay there. rooms were less than satisfactory and the beds were not comfortable. the sourdough cafe is the best thing about this hotel good food and inexpensive
Have you considered Aliante Station? He could easily take the 215 to Red Rock.
a decent port in a storm type place, should fit your needs-----basic rooms that are clean though a bit dated ,bedding was acceptable----caters mainly to the residents of the local community, blue collar working class types------food nothing to write home about but acceptable at reasonable prices-------located in the older part of the west side of town,no major problems in the surrounding area----- security personnel were evident on premises to include parking lot----laid back atmosphere in the casino----decent bang for your dollar-------difficult to compare to some downtown casinos as it has its own flavor, maybe the el cortez----

Thanks everyone. He'll probably go ahead and stay there to keep expenses down and see what it's like.
Would appreciate a quick report on how it is after he concludes his stay. I've only gambled there but the crowd was pretty much all locals who were either seniors or a bit down on their luck.

Will do. Look for it here in a couple of weeks.
