Internet no longer free at GVR if resort fee waived

Don't know about others but I strongly prefer Internet access in my room. The "price" I pay for longish trips is that I wind up doing on average a solid 1-3 hours of work each day on weekdays (and sometimes on weekends) on my computer, doing written work and sometimes while on conference calls, etc. For me it's not practical to be on the Internet in this way at a Starbucks or any other public place. I really need the privacy and also prefer the convenience of having Internet access in my room.

I pay for access daily at CET properties but I've got lots of TR credits I can't use so it's no big deal to me to pay for the access with TR credits and CET is up front about that charge.

I view the new Stations policy as one that says that the resort fee -- which was initially to cover the fitness center/spa, getting a paper (which I often didn't get), and Internet access -- as no longer being "waived" for comped rooms. Fortunately 2 of the 3 nights I have booked at RR in December are Christmas night and the day after (which is a holiday) so I expect that I won't need Internet access those 2 days but it's a bummer of a policy and a really cheap (I assume my accessing wi-fi in my room as a minimally incremental -- if not a non-existent additional -- cost for RR) and a fast way for them to rake in a lot of additional dough from players who play enough to get comped rooms. Ah well.
FFlowers, I frequently need to stay on top of work projects when I travel and prefer to work in the privacy of my room. I recently returned from an 8 day family trip where I worked 2 of the mornings in my room. Paying for internet on those days was a necessity. Sometimes we need to do what we need to do to have the pleasure of being away for a longer period of time.
Same at Red Rock last weekend. But when I mentioned it to my host, she said she could take care of it if I wanted it (than comped me a dinner for 4 at T-Bones). But the last thing I want on a vacation is the internet (of course I have a smart phone anyway).
Oh boy, was it a surprise when I saw my bill and we were billed 14.99 x 2 each day because we both logged on from our laptops! Now I've got to earn those comps above and beyond the room comp. Not happy about that all. My host took care of the charges but I don't like the new policy one bit.

Having free in room internet one trip and then being charged the next ( especially if I have to find a host to have the charges removed) is a deal breaker for me. Stop with these irritating and extra expense charges. I go to Vegas with the intention of enjoying myself and not to play the new "bean counter" fee game. There are plenty of other casinos who would love to have my play - without the gouging. Vegas better wake up and get back to the basic things that built Vegas.
drmilled, what hotels with casinos offer free wifi in Vegas?
I'm not referring to Hampton Inns and properties without casinos attached.

Lauren, when I checked in at Sunset, they asked if I wanted Internet and were upfront about the fee.
Go to the LVA home page and click on visiter info and then click on wifi and I think you'll find what your looking for.
im at Boulder now they charged 5.99 per night I can deal with that its worth it to me.
wife and I were at aliante for four nights this week.
two comped nights use of the internet was 5.99 per night.
the other two nights were booked off an internet offer, and use of the internet was included with the resort fee.
we can live with that.

the other aliante 'perk'...getting to meet sue casey!
