dont know about the fitness center, but they should be able to tell you with a call. The upgrades have become a part of the revenue stream, IMHO and I never had a bad room in the dozens i was given or paid for. Yes, I preferred the lanai or a double-size suite, in the GOOD old days of 20 usd tip. But free is hard to beat, even during its renovation while traffic was down 2-3 years ago. I think honors gold members still get preference at the buffet, and 'private' seating'. Good Luck!
