M - The Disappearing Buffet Coupon

I have some more clues to possibly why the M coupon for the second half of Dec is a $25 credit instead of a free buffet. The cashier told me that for much of late December (Dec 21 to Dec 30) the M will institute holiday pricing for the buffet, to $40, while Dec 31 will have a special menu and cost $50. My theory is due to the increased value of the buffet during this period, they felt the free buffet coupon for Dec 16 to 31 was too generous, and switched to a food credit instead. If this is true, January would go back to the free buffet level.

As I said before, I think it is odd that they would cut their food coupon offers in the middle of a month to implement a new policy. I guess we will find out in a week or so when the January offers are received.

I received my January mailer and there is good news and not so good news, depending on your perspective. The free buffet coupon is back, as I had hoped! The buffet coupon is no longer replaced with a food credit coupon, like there was for the Dec 16-31 period. However, they are now doing a bi-monthly mailer (this one is Jan-Feb), and this mailer is good for a free play amount, a comp room (depending on your offer), and a free buffet coupon for just ONCE in the two month period. For those that only occasionally go to the M, this change is not going impact them, but for those that visit once a month or so, this will be an impact. Instead of having 4 free buffets for one person over a 2 month period, there will be now just one!

Possibly locals mailers may be different. Maybe a local could post their offer info to compare.

I also just received my January mailer for the M. My mailer says "Warm up your Januar" and has 2 free buffets for each of two periods, January 2-15 and January 16-31

I am from the East Coast and visit the M 3-4 times a year, generally staying for a couple of nights but my last two visits were only for a day of play. Perhaps they are trying to get me back to stay longer.

I used the $25 coupons for the buffet last week, and my host comped the rest.

My January mailer is for one month, and has 2 free buffet coupons.

I'm out of state, by the way, as someone asked.

Can't recall if this has changed or not, but used to be if you forgot to bring your mailer buffet coupon to Vegas you were SOL. Is that still the case or will they print you another?

M used to accept expired coupons from the current month, but they stopped doing that some time ago. I don't think they ever accepted a coupon that you physically didn't have with you. The only places I know of that use virtual coupons are Stations, and that's only if they come with the offer you book your room under; you have to be a hotel guest in order to use these. At M, however, if you get the requisite points <www.themresort.com/rewards/free-buffet.html> on the day in question, you get a free buffet without a physical coupon.
