M Resort deposit question

Just curious if anyone knows how much they charge for a hotel deposit when staying at the M Resort. There are no resort fees anymore correct. We will be there this sunday for two nights.

Thanks
Correct, there are no resort fees. I don't know how much they hold for a deposit. If you're using a credit card, though, you won't see anything -- it'll only present a potential issue if you use a debit card.

Last summer the hold for incidentals was $100 per night with a maximum of $200 per stay.

You will have an issue with a credit card if you do not have enough credit available to cover the deposit. My guess is they will place a hold of $100 per night on your credit card. For example, if you stay two nights this will amount to $200. If you have less than $200 of available credit on your card it will be rejected.

A similar thing happens when you use a debit card except that instead of placing a hold on available funds the hotel actually withdraws the funds. After you check out your the funds are refunded to your debit card.

Wether you use a credit or debit card you better have enough funds available on the card to cover the deposit otherwise you card will get rejected at check it.

Close -- the hotel places an authorization on your debit card, which pulls the funds out of your 'available balance' with your bank (your bank still has your money -- they've just assured the hotel that the amount requested is available for the hotel if they finalize the transaction).

At the end of your stay, the hotel finalizes the charges (if any) which releases the authorization, which, a day or two later, causes the auth to fall off your account and release the funds back into your available balance with your bank.
