Main Street Comps

MSS has 9/6 JoB in their bartop games that still give full points.

El Cortez would give you comp tower or Cabana Suites rooms for a fraction of the play that's been discussed here.

It's my understanding that it takes a total of $5K coin-in (once in the lifetime of your account) to really get on their radar. After that, our average of about $2K/day has been enough to keep getting mailers for three free nights with $25 in food and $15 or $25 in freeplay, plus invites with free room nights for blackjack tournaments and the like.

I play between $4K and $5K per day at El Cortez and get nice offers: 3 nights, $50 food, $40 or so in slot play and one day where you can get 5x points. 5x points with a .2% cashback (or .4% if you use them for food) is nothing to sneeze at. But the best game, at least that I know how to play, is 8/5 Bonus Poker.

But yes, the El Cortez is quite generous for the amount of play I give them.

And to be fair to MSS, they do still comp my food at the end of the stay. But I'm sure I probably always play just a little extra to make sure they will comp it, whereas if I had my old food coupon book, I wouldn't worry about it.
I had the same problem and found out why. In my case I played for a half hour of nickle vp at the Cal. They count that as 1 day of play . They run an 18 month average it dropped my down. I always play 25cent vp at Mss. I now never play short time at Cal. or Fremont because of this.

So, what do you think happens if you play $3000 coin-in at MSS, for example, but go over to the Cal and play maybe $20 or $30 that same day? Do you think they combine all the Boyd play for the day?

jstewa22, intereresting question. My belief is that oldvegas only action that day was at the California Hotel for half an hour. I've read many times that if you are visiting for a short period, the best policy is not to use your card that day.

So far, we have not noticed any drop of offers from MSS. We have only been with them for just over a year. We used to be with the Fremont Hotel. May be there will be a reduction after we have settled down a bit.

I am a little late on this one, but I can tell you that all points are combined by Boyd. However, that said, Main Street will only count the points played at MSS for comps during that stay.

Short trip play ....... stay away. I have found that out the hard way. I complained to MSS my last trip about the poor comps. I was told that my short trip play in Oct was counting against me. You see in October I made one day trips to Las Vegas to bet football. It was an experiment for me. I flew in took care of business and then gambled for a few hours and caught the bus back to the airport and left.

I am still paying the price for that mistake. My much much better half who plays less gets 3 nights and food comp. I get two nights. Wow, how generous. As with others I guess my love affair with MSS may be coming to an end. The question now would be where do I go next ??? The Babe of Babes is stuck on old time Keno Machines. Not many of those left !!!!

Cheers,
I just got back from 4 days at MSS. I played around 6K/day of 9/6 Jacks - one of the days I played roughly 2/3 of that at the Cal, all the other play was at MSS. I charged all my food to the room (only one person, mind you) - mostly at 777 or Market Street Cafe, with one meal at Redwood Grill and the Friday night seafood buffet. They picked it all up.

So while I always liked the coupon book, in a way it was limiting because not all of the meals were covered, especially at 777.
That seems like a good rate of comps. What's MSS's theoretical win from your play, $300 to $400?

If I played at the level you describe, I'd be happy to have my room and food comped like you describe, good for you.
My play at Cal. was in addition to my regular play at MSS. I was given this info by marketing dept. Any play at downtown Boyd casino is not combined but considered a days play. Example today I play coin in 4500 at MSS, 200 at Fremont, 1000 at Cal. thats entered into averages as 3 seperate days of play. If my daily average for past 18 months was $5000 a day for ten days then when they add in my 3 days from above it drops my daily average way down. They admit its not accurate but thats how there software is programmed. If you call them they will review your play and possbly upgrade your next resv.with previous offer. Hope I didn't confuse you with my explanation

I have the same issue with Gold Coast. Free rooms/food every quarter. (Offered twice a quarter). My play hasn't changed. I was received a mailer indicating room rates for every month during the summer.

Charge me? For rooms? Surely you jest!
