More Information on South Point March 2026 Promotion

Signage in the casino has more info on the April 2026 promo. Note that it's coin-in not points.

Earn one free lunch buffet when you coin-in $400 on slots or $1000 on video poker.

Earn an additional dinner buffet when you coin-in $600 or more on slots or $1000 more on video poker.

Thanks

This is about the April promo not the March Promo. The title of this thread is wrong.

so 2000 points needed to earn on VP is good for 2 buffets, 1 lunch and 1 dinner. and you keep the points. So that's 4000 dollars coin. The buffets must be eaten on Mon through Thu , right? I think it's a great deal if you think about.  2000 points / 4000 dollars coin-in, it's a 6-7 hour job playing 50 cents . Not so hard if you think about, making you hungry after the session. A good buffet does the job :)

Boris:  $4K through on 50 cent vp should only take a person about 2-2.5 hours.  ($2.50 * 800 hands an hour is $2K)  Even a very slow 400 hands an hour would only take 4 hours.

It takes $1000 coin-in on video poker not points for each buffet.

The rules are now on the South Point website under What's New.

Then that would be only one hour of relatively fast play at .25 denoms. Pretty good, considering that buffet should cost you only $2.70 in EV if you play perfect NSUD.

When I'm jumping on such a promo, I figure I'm not gonna hit a royal, so I add 2% to my "theoretical" loss to calculate what it'll probably cost me. By that metric, this is a $22.70 buffet. If you keep your points, reduce that cost by $1.50.

thanks for the explination. 1000 points on videopoker is 2000 dollars coin-in. I don't play fast VP and I am not a good player, so mistakes happen now and then. I still think that a free buffet for playing a game that is fun is better than no free buffet if you play anyways. And I believe that playing 0.25 or 0.50 denom VP is not a game that can make somebody rich or poor. It's something for the recreational player, whether you play the game well or not. Of course everybody likes to play as good as possible but even then, it's about hitting the  deuces or the royal. But that doesn't happen all the time as we know. So I will gratefully take the buffet comps and play on. IT's nice that you can keep the points anyways, so if you think about, it's a really good promotion. Or not?

It's $1000 coin-in, not 1000 points (which would take $2000 on VP).

I've played so much VP and so many promos, I don't get any big whoop out of it either way. I run $1000 through an NSUD machine, my theoretical loss is less than $3, but I know that if I don't hit 2222 or a royal (and I probably won't), I'll probably lose something like $50. And that "free" buffet won't taste great.

That doesn't alter the desirability or advisability of the play. The only remaining question in such situations is: if the freebie isn't straight-up cash or free play, what's it worth to you? That may be different than the retail price. If you earn a comped meal at Bellagio of Cheesy Poofs and diet root beer, retail $139+tax, the only question is, what would you willing to pay for it out of pocket?

A local like Don the Dentist would probably be more hardheaded about this than a visitor. The latter would say, I'm going to gamble anyway, might as well get some goodies for it. Don wouldn't do it unless he actively wants that buffet (which he very well may).

When I was at the Southpoint the other day, waiting for my open seat in the poker game, there was a guy who clipped his finger nails and had it fall on the floor right in front of him. He was talking to a friend while doing so, with his feet on the podium where the slots were placed. Of course he was not gambling.  I watched it and felt a kind of disgust when watching it. I really asked myself how deep can you fall that you find it normal to do what he was doing. What kind of a world was this guy living in? Then I noticed that this guy later on was in a poker game next to me where I was playing.   Was that one of these hardheaded, EV+ oriented people that really has only one mission in mind (making profit for all it's worth and at the same time minimize costs and don't give a flying duck about respect and behavior? Would such a guy also pocket food from the free buffet in a tupperware and take it home for breakfast the next morning?
