I meant to post this a couple of weeks ago but life has been crazy -- though good -- and guess what? I WILL BE IN VEGAS IN 26 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I digress . . . .
Last August I participated in the Plaza's $150k Super Bingo extravanganza.
A couple of weeks ago I received a VERY nice looking mailer from the Plaza inviting me to sign up for this year's Bingo fest, which will be on Saturday, August 27th and Sunday, August 28th. Yes folks, the "official" opening of the new Plaza may be in September but as the flyer says to Bingo fans --
"A Classic Reborn: Be the first to experience the all new Plaza! 1,037 remodeled rooms and suites. New steakhouse, restaurants and bars (with a note that all venues may not be open at the time of the event). Updated Casino Floor, Remodeled Hotel Lobby, New Exterior Paint, New Concierge Desk."
They spent some $$$ on this glossy tri-fold flyer -- nice CET quality-type mailing -- and it includes three photos of a newly remodeled room. I was in a Plaza room YEARS ago when a friend stayed there one night and it wasn't too pretty. These remodeled rooms, however, look quite nice. They look like an improved version of a Palace Station Tower room (which I like) or even an Eastside Cannery room. If you were a Plaza fan already, you will be loving the new Plaza.
This should go into gaming, but for you Bingo Lovers out there, it's two mega sessions, one on Saturday and one on Sunday with $75k in Bingo prizes each day. If you want to stay there, a three-night package in a remodeled room, both sessions of Bingo, $20 in FSP, two Bingo daubers and two $10 dining certificates come to a very reasonable grand total of $199. I don't pay for rooms but that's an EXCELLENT deal as the Bingo-only package is $130 and includes both sessions of Bingo, $20 in FSP, and the two daubers. So, for $70 more you're getting three nights in a brand new room and $20 in food.
The $199 package price is good until August 1 and goes up to $229 after August 1st.
Here's the not-great news, however. I called yesterday to book the Bingo-only package after changing my return flight from Sunday to Monday and, guess what? More than 1,000 people have purchased the Bingo package already so the event is SOLD OUT!!!!!! But the guy with whom I spoke said to definitely call back tomorrow to get on the waiting list, which was just formed, and so with cancellations he was pretty sure I'd be able to participate. I got on the waiting list last year, very late in the process, and got in so I'm feeling pretty confident I'll again be participating in the Plaza's $150k Super Bingo fest this year.
FYI, the tag line for the new-improved Plaza is . . . "Plaza, Las Vegas, A Classic Reborn." Very nice and very well done. Wishing this classic all the best and that I get to yell Bingo at least once (minimum prize is $2k) on either Saturday, August 27th or Sunday, August 28th.
