new (more stingy) comp policy for boyd properties?

first noticed this on another message board, and too many responses to think it only affects isolated accounts.

this showed up monday on my bconnected account. instead of monthly three-night stays with token free play at sam's town, the offers for may-june showed:

three comp nights spread over 60 days!!! (May 1-June 30) with 60 'slot dollars' also spread over the same time period.

that is a BIG change and seems to be in effect at both downtown and off strip properties.

I wonder if stations will follow? three free nights a month has been the 'norm' for an awful long time.

can't fathom the reason boyd would do this; business can't be THAT good and the lure of free rooms has always been a draw. makes indian casinos in our area look more and more attractive.

wonder if anyone else has noticed? out of towners who target stays toward the end of the month to take advantage of offers at more than one property would suffer the most, I assume

let them sit on some empty rooms for a while.
My wifes offer from Suncoast changed from a normal month of 3 free nites, $100 slot play a day, and $100 a day in food to 4 free nites over May/June and $225 in slot play. No mention of food. We'll wait and see the actual mailer as sometimes the food is listed on it. Summer months are normally a reduced offer but this is quite a drop. I get the Orleans not offering as much as the place is packed all the time and is a cash cow for Boyds, but Suncoast and Samstown need the business.
My offers at Sam's went the way of the dinosaur as well. I'm still going to stay there in March, but am considering other options for the summer.

My offers are gone at both Sam's and Orleans.

The real question (I think) on this is will Boyd know that the empty rooms are directly from people not wanting to come back there under these circumstances -- unless people then tell them that they're not coming specifically because of them cutting back a lot on their offers to non-locals.
I'm not a high roller--usual play is quarter VP--I am a sapphire. For the past two years I've gotten the following offers: Sam's Town three comped nights and $15.00 free slot play per month; Orleans 4 nights with $10.00 food credit; Suncoast , two comped nights; and MSS, 2 nights per month. WE used all these comps per 10 day trip twice a year. AS of today we got ZERO offers for March and April - this morning a two night plus @20.00 slot play popped up on Sam's Town for May and June, that's it PERIOD!!!!!!! Looks like GOODBYE BOYDS.
it would appear that boyds business is that good and they can afford to cut back on their comps-----as previously mentioned the Orleans is always packed-------downtown mss and California draw a heavy hawaiian crowd,so much so that even though I got comped rooms from mss via mailers I wound up staying at the Fremont several occasions----;the other 2 properties being sold out------they now own a travel agency that soley does their Hawaiian bookings------not that familiar as to tightness on availability of rooms at their other properties--------could also be they are getting those moving away from the strip because of parking and resort fees and lack of full-pay vp games-----

any comments as to how the station casinos stack up as to comp policies regarding freeplay, rooms and food?-----they do have decent amounts of full-pay vp games at all their casinos------a move there could be an alternative
We always stay/play at MSS. Had our offers reduced too. I am safire . Does anyone have the name of someone at MSS we can send a letter to voicing our disappointment at the changing of their comps? It is more affective if it' s a personal letter.
and here is another thought. it seems like they have turned against non-locals. Boyd's has properties in Vegas as well as many states across the country. for many years I have understood that to be their strategy. that is, to lure those gamblers from their home state to Vegas. all intertwined thru bconnected. it is a 2-way street. we like boyds, they like us. it is a strategy that works for CET as well. so why all of a sudden the cold shoulder?
