New Stations Program: It Stinks

They do target certain players for this telemarketing program, but I'm not privy to the criteria for choosing the list. The goal is to get these people to come in and play -- potentially play more than they did in the past -- so they give them something to sweeten the pot, so to speak. Locals and out-of-towners are included in the program. And the computer program where your information is located, including your mailing address, account number, play history, etc., also indicates the name of your host if you have one.
Hi all. I stayed at RR on a free night offer over Christmas. I was surprised at check in that the clerk tried to upsell us to a better room. She had a big notebook with pictures and it would have been either $75 or $150 to upgrade. I have been to Vegas lots of times and, while I have asked about upgrades & on occasion have been asked if I want an upgrade for a fee, I've never experienced a hard sell like this. The first night we were there the casino seriously had maybe 50 people throughout!
About the resort fee, on previous stays it was waived AND we still received amenities, so the no pay/no play surprised me. From reading these posts it seems that is the norm. However, I just booked comp rooms for February at Aliante and it plainly stated in the fine print when I booked, that with comp rooms you do not have to pay the fee AND you DO get the internet, etc. I don't know if I can find that verbiage again and copy it to the forum, but I'll try. I guess it must vary from casino to casino.
I really like the food at the Grand Cafe. The decorated individual holiday pastries were both darling and yummy and the late night specials were awesome. Strip steak & eggs with sides for $5.99.
I also used my 6x points day to good advantage and was able to take part in the holiday gift giveaway. I got a wonderful cookie tray to take to Christmas dinner w/my family and didn't lose my points.
I am only a gold level but so I appreciate any freebies and I am still happy overall with my free play, free nights & buffets.
Just my two cents worth.
I stayed at RR Mon. nite. Only needed one nite. Very NICE as usual.
No upselling at front desk.
Easy-peasy. Comped & no resort fee or any probs.
Ate at Buffet with friend, using points. Couldn't beat the price. lol

Only prob I still have with Stations, is my Online acct. still shows the wrong amount of status points.
I just sent another email...........

This response is dedicated to Ken who now resides on the California Central Coast.

Here's my impression of RR even though I have never been there.

About maybe 5 or longer years ago they sent me an invitation by snail mail. Comped rooms and such. I decided to stay there a couple days to take a look at their property. You know, test the water.

Anyway, when I made the call, I got a recorded message that said, "We don't accept calls from your area." LOL

I have visited local Stations' casinos and receive comped invites to all their various
properties but I'm afraid to call.

I might get that crazy bizarro message again.

Seriously, I may stay at one of their properties
some day. All the employees I have encountered have been very cordial.

All except Sue Casey. Have not had the pleasure yet. LOL

Some day I'll get the nerve with a full canteen of water to make it out to the far reaches of
civilization and see Aliante.

Well, I'm Platinum and my offers are what somebody just off the street would get if he just put through $500. I put thru anywhere from $5-10,000 a day and get squat under the new program. Program stinks and is just designed to reduce their comp costs.

On a short trip to Vegas in early January, I decided to play through the very little needed to raise my Boarding Pass level to Platinum just to see what the results would be. My offers since then have been reduced, worse than they were at the Gold level. My freeplay has been halved, my free nights cut from 3 to 2, and my free buffets cut in half. I see no reason to bother with Stations in the future.
Just got back from a wonderful stay at RR (6th 3 day visit there in the last 16 months). Comped rooms, VIP status, $100 a day food, $175 free play and two 6X days...I love the new program that put me in President status! Boyd sure hasn't come thru like that and I've been Emerald for 3 years.
Guess having a great host helps (so does getting my first RF of the year).

Bill, did RR have any more of the new 99%+ machines than before? VPFree says that GVR now has 48 of those machines. (!) I wondered if RR has added any also.

I agree that Boyd is now way behind on offers. You really have to speak to a host now. We will have a gold card for the next stay, but after that, will be phasing out Sam's Town this year.

We love Stations (by some miracle, we both made President), but again, the problem with Stations is "Where is the mailer?" It is two days from February, and we have no February buffet coupons yet.

Congratulations on the Royal, and I hope there will be many more for this year all of us. Losing is no longer an option.

I'm not Bill, but I was just at Red Rock this evening and looked around extensively. No, I didn't see any more "Up to 99.8%" machines than the two banks they have had all along. I don't know why GVR added so many more of these but I did see them with my own eyes.

bcc: I got my Stations mailer on Friday. Love the free buffet coupons (vs. 2 for 1 which really doesn't help me when I'm solo). Also, I'm in CA if that makes a difference.
