Newly remodeled Gold Coast rooms - fantastic!!!

I stayed at the GC two weeks ago and was also lucky enough to get a comped renovated room. They are nice.
I will return in December if not sooner.
I last stayed at the GC 2, maybe 3 years ago. At the time they were renovating rooms and I was able to stay in one (I think they started from the top floor and worked their way down). Is this the same renovation or something different?

Not sure if it is something different or not Fredo. I know last summer I took a comp from GC for 2 nights just because it was there and I like playing there anyway, however when my girl and I saw the room we decided to keep our belongings at Sante Fe (double booked there). The sink was stopped , the room had an awful smell and the furnishings were...GC furnishings back then. I wish that I had thought to take a picture of the room. The hallway caught be by surprise when I got off the elevator so I just snapped that and then was equally impressed by the room (but failed to pull out my phone and snap 1 more time ).

I'll be back in mid August. If no 1 has posted by then then I'll snap a couple and ask Lisa to post them for me!

Something tells me that I'm gonna get beat to that punch!
If I get a remodeled room, will post a picture next week.

Had a renovated room back in August - really nice. Funny thing is after looking at my pictures I realized I had the same room 11 years ago. They actually converted it into a handicap room.

The old pictures and new pictures can be seen here:

Good post there Stungazed!
I stayed at GC this April, first for 2 nights, room on the 8th floor.
Remodeled room, yet w/shower/tub combo.
(Room I had last October only had the shower, which I would have preferred)

4 nights later, stayed again for 2 nights, room on 2nd floor.
Again with tub/shower combo and my resv was for premium.
I even asked about getting a shower room, but I guess the clerk didn't hear me.

Having a hard time saying this, but I am actually liking GC alot better now than MSS.
No low shower heads, no trains, no freeway traffic, no slats for drapes, etc...

Now, if only I had some gambling luck here, more than than the one night I did.
1st night in, I put in over 5200 pts on my card.
2nd round in, I put in over 6100 pts on my card for one day.

Oh yeah, only issue...no safes.
Looks to me like Gold Coast has just completed the remodel that was in progress back in 2008 when the financial crisis hit. They were halfway through when they decided it would be best to just finish up the rooms that were already underway and hold off on the others.

The result of the halted remodel was that on some floors you would get off the elevator and find the old ratty carpet extending down the hall to the right and the new carpet (the same carpet in Lisa's picture below) extending down the hall to the left. There was always a moment of truth when you would look at the sign for the room numbers and learn whether you were headed to the relative bliss of the remodeled rooms or to the hell of the old rooms.

I am glad they have finally been able to finish. The April 1st article said they finished remodeling 400 of the 700 rooms, so I assume the other 300 are the previously remodeled rooms, which, 5 years later, are starting to show a lot of wear and tear. They used the hell out of those rooms.

I hope they have enough extra matching carpet to remodel the old remodel.
I will keep Gold Coast in mind for my next stay. I like the gambling there and have always been treated well.
