Orleans Defender No More

I have stuck by them for years. As the promotions and slot club became worse and worse,I hung in there. I had a great host and was comped 6 night stay every couple months so I did not let the other things deter me. I have made many friends that work at the property over the years. Truly great people! I was there in early November and the vibe was different, new GM and new leader in marketing department really had philosophies I can't get on board with. When you care more about pinching pennies then your loyal customers you have lost me.

Tuesday of this week I sent in my request for a 6 night stay starting 1/12. Response back from my host shocked me. After 40-50 stays the past 10 years with consistent play she was told she can't comp me more than 3 or 4 nights.

Soooo irritated! I understand policy changes but I was just there 3 weeks ago and no one had the stones to tell me in person?

Looking for a new home base but I feel this is Vegas now!

Feels like a slap in the face, doesn't it.

I suggest:  accept four comped nights at Orleans; during that stay look for your new home base; play like hell at a couple places of interest (instead of giving it to Orleans), see what comes.  South Point seems to get rave reviews for customer treatment, at least for now (and they have a buffet!).  Might take a while to develop the Host relationship but at least your play at your "new" place will bring about some offers to begin with.

Caveat:  Only do this if you REALLY want to quit Orleans, since low play during the four night stay certainly won't help.  Otherwise, can you accept the four nights up front and then possibly be comped further at the end of your stay, depending on your play?  Perhaps your Host can answer this.

Good luck.

slate -- Actually this currently is ALL Boyd properties. I have a similar history as you - a Boyd member since 2007. I have not gotten any offers for rooms since Jan. 2021 - and I was Emerald. I have a lot of built up comp dollars and whenever I visit Vegas I use them for food only at Boyd properties. I believe that this ignorance by Boyd will continue as the "new breed" of Vegas visitor continues to pay, pay and pay for what Boyd charges - Boyd has no incentive to retain long time loyal clientele - and will continue to be who they currently are until the economy worsens and the recession hits. If you are looking for new places to stay and play, I suggest you check out South Point, Tuscany, even Palace Station. Downtown I suggest you check out the 4 Queens, El Cortez and the Plaza. All is not lost, yet. - P.S.- I have received offers from Arizona Charlies (Decatur), the Strat, and the Downtown Grand with minimal play - and I have heard that Resorts World also sends offers for minimal play. Good luck...

Not that any of us, individually or collectively, can do much to sway them, but you should do what you can, which is take your business elsewhere.

Four Queens, Plaza, El Cortez, South Point, and reportedly Resorts are still comping players. Boyd has obviously decided (not just Orleans) that they don't want us. So, vote with your feet.

Definitely take those four nights, though, and play exactly one dollar. See what happens.

That is my plan brother! A marketing executive is supposed to call me Monday, that should be great! 🤣🤣🤣

Will do RVP of Marketing for Boyd called me today, hoping to connect with her tomorrow.

The real point is, even if some exec says "let's make an exception for this customer", it is exactly that, an exception.   The point is Boyd used to the home of value in Las Vegas.    That is LONG gone.   I was a Gold Card customer in Sams Town for many years.   They ended that around the same time they decimated a lot of the good VP.   I've moved on to other places.    I can't count how many posts on various message boards I've read where long time customers with consistent play at Boyd have offers slashed to almost nothing.

If you still play there, you are telling them, it's fine to cut my offers!   You have to vote with your feet... walk away!  That's the only message that works, if enough do it!

I hear ya, I am not sure just walking does anything though. I think if you keep communication open, voice displeasure and expect action as long as you get action it is working. If I just walk I removed the dialogue and any opportunity for positive change.

They've made it abundantly clear that they feel they can afford to lose us. Certainly, they can't have been surprised to receive a torrent of complaints. And yes, "exceptions can be made," but they'll be temporary--a sop to a former loyal customer.

Interesting take--I played poker at Orleans recently, using my Ruby Booby card

(no points earned, but yes on poker room comps) didn't otherwise gamble or eat, and my email inbox lit up with "how was your experience" "we notice you haven't visited in a while" "happy birthday" "Merry Christmas" blah blah blah. No actual offers or discounts or anything like that, of course. I found their sudden concern for me as a returning prodigal son amusing.
