Palace Station info needed

For those of you that have stayed at Palace Station, how is the place? Any info on rooms, food, BJ minimums and rules and staff would be appreciated. I was contacted by a host I had previously used at a different property and he offered to take care of us if we wanted to visit. We've never stepped foot in the place but plan to on our next trip. I'd consider staying on this trip but we're all ready being comped 4 nights with limo transportation and $300 in free play. Where do we transfer from CAT route 108 to get there? Thanks in advance.
Surprised no on has chimed in on this yet. Well, it's been about three years since since I've stayed there, but I do stop by the casino and buffet every trip.

Hard to believe that you've being comped so much while taking the bus to get there! You will probably appreciate having a rental car if you're staying there, although they do have a nice free shuttle to two places on the Strip. PS has swanky Tower rooms, and dumpy smoke-encrusted, remodeled motel rooms (called Courtyard rooms) in another building across the alley.

The buffet is no great shakes, but usually pretty cheap! They also have a steak place, a Chinese place, and an Italian place -- don't they all? They have a neat oyster bar, and it's usually packed.

I don't play BJ, but I remember seeing plenty of $5 minimum tables, with shoes. I've never had a problem with the staff.

It's a nice little low-roller joint. If you don't mind a thick smoke smell, the Courtyard rooms are a great value. These days I find better values elsewhere. No "Hotel Amenity Fees" for me, thanks!
A rental car is not for me. I like the free drinks too much to turn them down and my license too much to drive afterwards. I get comped so much BECAUSE I don't rent a car. If I'm staying in the joint I'm playing in the joint.

Thanks for the reply. I posted this in several of the headings and got more response.
There have been a couple of threads on Palace Station in the past couple of months. My brother Champster and I are both big fans. I'd do a search for Palace or under my brother's post and you should find a lot of good information.

Buffet isn't great but it's hard to screw up breakfast. The Broiler is very good and there are lunch specials during the week for $10. The Oyster Bar if fabulous. Folks stand in line sometimes for 30+ minutes to get a seat at the bar. Great VP (though like all Stations stingly with points on 100%+ VP). It doesn't have the fanciest (Red Rock does) but it has my favorite Bingo room.

It's not a fancy Stations -- Red Rock is the best IMHO -- but it has everything I need and I love the close proximity to the strip, by CAT but also via a fabulous shuttle to and from the FSM that Palace runs from 10 am to 11 pm. It's excellent. It's been years since I've rented a car in Vegas and I stay at Palace every trip.

Leisa Wells is a great host so I'd contact her if you need one though sounds like you don't.

Enjoy your stay!

So I checked out the property while we were there whis weekend. O think it would meet our needs. I didn't find the bus stop out frint because the host offered us a limo ride back to Fremont. A few things stood out to me. The first was the number of Baccarat tables. My host told me that the financial well-being of the place is based largely on those table. I have a hard time believing that because the house edge is so small on it. On the other hand the wagers were large so even a small house edge would add up in the long run. The second thing that I noticed was how busy the place was. It was Saturday night at around 5 PM though. The third thing was how dirty the table game felts were. And this is coming from someone who stayed at the Plaza for years. The dining options looked good. I didn't see inside the rooms but have been told they are nice, nothing fancy but nice. While we were there they had a drawing that allowed three people to spin the "big wheel." The first person won $1500, the second $10000 and the third $5000. That's a pretty good chunk of change.

I'm not sure I would choose it over the Golden Nugget but it's nice to have options.
Take a cab from the Sahara casino out back.
In the last year, I have added Palace Station to my rotation. The tower rooms are pretty nice, the buffet breakfast is fine, the bartenders are nice, as is my host, whom I used to know back in my Lady Luck days, and the VP sked/comp ratio is about as good as I can find, tying a couple of other places.

They do seem to have a lot of degnerate baccarat players.....

Stayed there 2 yrs. ago & have nothing bad to sayTHERE 2 YRS, AGO & the tower rooms were more than we expected. Comped 3 nights & we are going back Valentines Day. Small casino but enjoyed the B/J.
