Palms Resort Fee

Our on scene investigative reporter Slowpoke sent me the following via email last night:

"Perhaps this is "old news", but in case it has yet to be reported - some might be interested to hear that the Palms is now charging a resort fee. I think it is in the range of $12 per day. Whether this can be waived when rooms are comped we have no idea. Will find out fairly soon though."

I searched this board but didn't find anything to indicate it previously so I thought I'd post it for those Palms fans.

There could be some upside with CET as a buyer....the resort fee could go away as it runs contrary to the corporate policy. However, so could the good vp games....

I notified Cheapo Vegas about this new Resort Fee (since they have an extensive list of LV Hotels with Resort Fees) and they were able to confirm this $12 rate and do say what it includes.

Can't say for certain on Palms but all other places we have been comped they have included the resort fee in the comp.

HOWEVER a caveat. We took a marketing comp to Encore for 3 nights and paid for a 4th night. In that case, for some odd reason, we were charged the resort fee for all 4 nights though the first 3 were comped no problem!

Marc, caught up with Slowpoke after their Palms stay. Their host was able to pick up F & B charges but not the resort fee!

Your experience has generally been ours as well. Comped rooms have a waived resort fee. We didn't pay it at MGM this weekend nor did I pay it today when I checked a friend into MB using a free night offer. We've never paid on at Excal either. However, MC has been notorious (at least to us) in charging a resort fee; even for a comped room.

I'm sensing that it's there to stay with no waiver going forward. Slowpoke did mention that they received some compensation as this must be so new that it wasn't disclosed at the time of reservation. I completely forgot what they were given so we'll have to rely on her to tell us. In fact, we're supposed to see her tonight and if I remember to ask, I'll append it to this thread.

Says you get a $20 bar credit for your $12 resort fee.

I'm now not ever staying at Palms again, as I never ever stay at a place that charges a damn resort fee!

This won't get me into Palms either! Like their vp, but don't stay & Pay resort fees!
