Palms Trip Advice

Hey everyone, long time no see!

I booked a last minute trip to Vegas for next week, Tuesday - Friday. I haven't had a free room offer from the Palms since .... 2009, and because this was a last minute booking, I did it through Expedia (RT airfare and 3 nights for 277 -- air alone was running 300, so I went for it).

I haven't stayed at the Palms since ... 2008? I have a couple of questions:

1) I've heard the rooms are getting a bit dated/worn and they will be working on a remodel. I am booked into the old tower. Never stayed there. Only stayed in the Superior and Spa Rooms in the Fantasy Tower or at PP. How are the rooms in the old tower and is it worth it for me to upgrade to the Fantasy tower (I think it's 20 per night or the 20$ trick, which may not work because I booked through Expedia). I actually don't mind keeping this trip as cheap as possible, but I am taking this trip to de-stress, so I will probably spend more time than most people do in my room just chillaxing.

2) I want to book a massage, but the only spa they now have is the Drift spa, which is actually located in Palms Place. Does this mean I cannot use the 50% coupon for the massage? Does anyone know about this? If so, please advise.

I suppose, if I have to, I can use the coupon to cover what isn't covered by Expedia on the final bill (resort fees, room service, etc.).

Sometimes the best trips are the unexpected, last minute, ones. Looking forward to this one!!
I stayed in the older tower in June. The remodeling of that tower started after July 4th and wasn't supposed to be finished until sometime in September, so I'd assume it's not finished.
How was it, if I may ask?

ah, I did a little googling and you're right: it seems the new rooms won't be available to book until September. I'll ask at the desk and probably just upgrade to the Fantasy Tower.
I've seen in this forum that the LVA coupon is good at Drift. However, I'd confirm that with Drift when you make your reservation. Enjoy!

Don't sweat the web site. Just say "I'd like one of the remodeled rooms." Whether you use the $20 trick doesn't have anything to do with how you booked. Wouldn't hurt.

Thanks for the info guys.
You can use the coupon at Drift Spa. Did it myself on 7Aug2012. Get there early to take full advantage of the amenities.

I would recommend Shannon. I had the deep tissue (muscle melter) and was reasonably happy after 50 minutes. Take note, 20% gratuity is added. So, total cost to me was $130.00.
