Rio super cheap

Here's the deal. The renovated rooms are nicer than the older tower (Masquerade) rooms and contain better amenities like more places to charge stuff and more usable bathrooms (the M tower bathrooms contain tiny tub/shower combos, for the most part). That said, the M rooms are huge and well maintained and housekept.

The difference is in the location. From the porte cochere/front desk/main casino area, the M tower is a walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk away. The Ipanema Tower is only a walk walk walk away, ALTHOUGH it has loooong corridors branching out from the central elevator bank; the M tower is more compact. So the walking advantage of the I tower might be negated. Ask for a room close to the elevators.

The gambling is now really good, though the opportunities are limited. Morning $3 craps, $10 blackjack (though I think it's actually 6:5 shitjack), and actual 9/6 JOB video poker. $3000 coin-in will get you the LVA bonus $25 free play plus $35 more from the Rio.

Don't eat at the Rio unless you like setting fire to money. But if you must, avoid Bozo Borracho, eat at Hash House if you don't mind a $25 breakfast, and Luckley's has insanely overpriced albeit quite good pub food. Try them during happy hour.

Use the free valet instead of the walk walk walk walk walk parking garages.

Why $35 more from the Rio if you do the LVA $25 coupon?

I should have made that more clear. It's for new Rio Rewards members only. You get $10 FP just for signing up, and $25 more for earning 100 points ($1000 coin-in).

That promo is worth $30, as you can expect a $5 loss when playing their best game, 9/6 JOB.

The $25 FP LVA coupon is likewise worth $10.

Makes sense.  Thanks for the clarification.

We currently have a) my 4 night any night pay resort fees comp, b) my wife 3 nights completely free + freeplay + F&B credit. Rio does not appear to rate table play so I end up not doing well comps wise. They have significant issues. 1: Checking in can take forever, 2: their lobby check in machines very often do not work, 3: they are chronically understaffed, 4: if you can connecting bookings they fail to chain them so they may check you out on reservation 1 and recheck you in on reservation 2 despite telling them you have back to back reservations. So the front desk staff, some, appear to have limited active listening ability. The latest and not greatest is fraudulent accussations of smoking in the room and getting charged $500 with no appeal. Security also kept hassling us as we had not ordered housekeeping during our June 7 night stay in two rooms. I managed to get 2 rooms for $400 all inclusive for 2025-12-23 - 31 but I am torn with a Westgate offer for $1300 with $1200 in F&B credit. Westgate now has paid parking. But none or little of the Rio nonsense. Granted: the rooms are way smaller.
