Sam's Town Blackjack Tournament

Another confusing situation with Sam's Town. I booked an offer online for my 3 nights comped, $125 in free play and gold card, in conjunction with a 20K Blackjack Tournament to be held March 14-17 (Mon.-Thurs.). This was followed by a promotional mailer for the same offer, same dates. Yesterday I received a promotional flyer in the mail for a 20K Blackjack tournament for March 18-21 (Fri.-Mon). I think someone messed up in their marketing department as I've never seen them offer back-to-back tournaments and, in fact, the blackjack tournaments are usually only offered a couple of times a year. I've emailed Sam's Town stating what has happened and that I fully expect them to honor the original dates of the tournament they publicized. I'll let you know what happens.

I'm curious to know what you find out about this, randmark. We have similar offers, and it has never been clear if you can book both the Gold card offer AND the event (such as a tournament) at the same time.

In the past, when you tried to book the GC offer online on an event date (such as the Nascar weekend), it said "Sold," and you couldn't book it. This doesn't seem to apply to the BJ tournament on either of the two date scenarios.

I have mailers with the GC offer (which says "Plus" the BJ Tourney on the 14-17 and other events), and another mailer with the BJ Tourney alone on the 18-21.

I don't intend to book them, but for future reference, I'd like to know what you learn.

I received an unsolicited email from someone unknown to me at Sam's Town stating that in case there was any confusion with recent offers, room offers and events cannot be combined or used in conjunction with one another. I imagine they are receiving many questions from their recent mailings. It certainly appears that they screwed up and are trying to get people off their backs. In the past the offers would exclude certain dates so that you could not book them during an event. The Jan.-Mar. offers did not do this and, as you indicated, stated PLUS invitation to the events.

They never did get back to me as to why I had offers for a blackjack tournament Mar. 14-17 and another one for a blackjack tournament Mar.18-21. Perhaps they thought I was going to piggy-back these offers and that's why I received the email referred to above. I just wanted to know if there actually were two tournaments back-to-back since in the past they only ran the invitational blackjack tournaments twice a year.
