Over the past years I've been in 23 tourneys at ST (VP & slot) and had fun at every one. They really know how to put on a tourney. Almost always held in ST Live room with plenty of room for cheerleaders to stand behind you, and they are always themed with costumes.
So last weekend I went to one at the Orleans and boy does it suck. Actual tourney was in the middle of the casino (actually in the area in front of the buffet which had been roped off). Sound system was marginal at best and it was really noisy. But the kicker was where they presented the awards. It was in the old tourney area with one of the main traffic areas going right down the center of it. They kept saying "keep the aisle clear". They were on one side of the aisle and all the players were on the other...crowded together!
You would think that a hotel that size could find a room to at least present the awards and serve the cake.
And, of course, you had to take a form to the main cage to get your money (Sam's gives you your money in ST Live and calls you up by name).
The only casino that does it better than Sams is GVR (location & food), but still not as much fun.
