Silverton

We have a trip booked 4/13-4/20.  Original plan was to stay all 7 nights at MSS which would be all comped plus $75 in food comp and $50 slot play for each of us.  Well, on our trip last year, we went to Silverton for the first time and signed up for one card and we only played $1 slots for a couple hours (?) trying to generate some offers.

Yesterday I recevied an offer from the Silverton for up to 5 comp nights plus $90 free play and $50 and $25 in food credits.  Now we are trying to decide if we want to break up the trip - thinking 4 nights at MSS (we would each book our comp rooms for 4 nights and try to get them adjoining for a "mini-suite") and 3 nights at Silverton.  Probably would rent a car for the Silverton stay so we can venture to some other places.  Looks like a 3 day car rental would be about $100 right now, but hoping that would drop.

Looking for feedback on the Silverton - how are the rooms, gambling, food options, etc.  Checked out VP free and the VP paytables don't look too great, but some playable options.

Thoughts, ideas?

Thanks!

i really like this place.  gambling is good, a nice variety of food, if you drink while gambling like i do they are vigilant to you.  bass pro shop is fun to look around.  mermaids too.  pool is what it is.  room was fine for the price.  i want/will to stay here again but my buds want the strip.

Stayed and played here this past December.  If just the two of you, I would request a Luxury King for your 3 nights.  It still is rustic but more recently remodeled.  Beds are comfortable.  Multiple good dining options available. The Sundance Grill is their 24 hour coffee shop with decent meals at decent prices.  We felt the buffet was better than average for the price with lots of options.  They also have Hispanic and Asian options as well as a stake house.

Be advised that you cannot combine the meal vouchers.  You would need to spend the $50 and $25 separately.

We enjoyed our last stay and plan to stay again in August.

Thanks for the feedback.  We ended up booking at the Silverton for 4/13-4/16 which is Fri-Mon.  There is a small charge for Fri and Sat ($19 and $29) and Mon is comped.  I got the resort fee waived.  We are in a Standard Resort room but may try for comp upgrade to the Luxury King on checkin.  However, we are hardly ever in the room so I'm sure the standard room will be fine.  I did get them to add a fridge for no charge.

Good to know about having to use the meal vouchers separately.  I wondered about that - was hoping they would be both just added to the room and we could charge food to the room.  But it sounds like we will get actual vouchers.  Do you know if we can also use a LVA/ACG Buy 1 Get 1 Buffet coupon with the voucher?  The Sundance Grill looks like a good option and they have specials from midnight to 5am which is perfect for us since we are from the East Coast and are up early and ready for breakfast before 5am!

We ended up renting a car through Advantage for the Silverton portion of the trip - picking up at the airport and returning it to MSS on Monday afternoon.  3 days for a total of $73 which I thought was reasonable.  We each have a comped room at MSS for 4 nights for 4/16 - 4/20 and hope to get adjoining rooms.  We love to do this as it becomes a small suite and love having separate bathrooms!

Looking forward to staying somewhere different and it sounds like we will be happy with the Silverton!

You will need to go to the kiosk to get the food vouchers.  You will activate the free play from the kiosks as well.

Since you have a car rental and your so close to Sout Point(just an exit more down). You should visit. My wife and I love that place. Friday and Saturday nights Wes Winters plays at the Grandview lounge from 6pm-9pm.  and on Friday nights in the same lounge there's what they call"the dirty at 12:30am." Both shows are free and they're awesome.

We definitely plan to go to South Point.  We've been there before and love it - great VP and love the hot dog cart!  What type of show is Wes Winters?  We might check these shows out since the price is right!  :-)  Not sure if we can stay up until 12:30 am though!

Best feAtures of the Silverton are its rooms and buffet.     they are two of the better values in town in their respective categories.

The casino is a little tight in my opinion (VP Schedules are a little blah for a locals casino)...and the tables are frequently bare of any players.    South Point is a more player friendly and livelier place to gamble IMO.

Silverton was one of our main squeezes several years back.  We enjoyed every minute there.  But then they downgraded their games......we moved on to South Point and haven't looked back since.  Quarter vp players have 8/5 Bonus (or something similar) as their best option.  In Vegas, thanks but no thanks.  South Point has better vp options, better food options and table play is good also.  The rooms at SP are being remodeled currently, but are still better than Silverton.

In the long ago, Mare touted us on Silverton.......and then it was a great choice.  But all things Vegas change and often not for the better (better as in improved, not better as in one who bets-though both may apply!)

Wes Winters plays piano and singers songs. He takes requests too. He singers songs from mainly the 50's and 60's but will mix in some country songs. You can also go up and dance in the corners of the lounge if you want to.  The other show starts at 12:30am and goes till around 2am. It depends on how many comedians they have for that night. They don't hold back just to let you know. It's still a great show.
