Silverton

If you have stayed recently at the Silverton - I would appreciate your comments. Thanks, L.
Stayed there about 2 years ago and really enjoyed it. Rooms were nice, prices were good, pretty good food, and really good gambling.

Was a nice change from the hustle and bustle of the Strip. At the end of the day, my wife and I would go back there and unwind in a nice quite casino, gamble for a bit, have a few drinks, and then off to bed. We have stayed elsewhere on the past few trips, but are looking at staying there again this summer.

I stay there most of the time lately. You need a car. Not fancy, no big strip amenities. Comfortable beds, pillows used to be better--too fat now, I bring my own. Food is pretty good. Usually some promotion going on.
Been staying at Silverton at least once a year for the past 7 or 8 years. Enjoy the off-strip ambiance of the casino. Not a big gambler there but play enough between slots and tables to receive free rooms with small slot play and food offers. Got to love never having to pay for a room or resort fees.

Its a great "value" place. The rooms are very good for the price (frequently under $40). Very comfortable beds.

My one gripe is that it can be dead in there sometimes...depending on the time of year.
I wish people would stop saying nice things about The Silverton. Not that they aren't true. But its going to get over crowded for me lol
Silverton is no longer offering crab legs on their Sunday Brunch. It fact they said no crab legs at any dinner. I guess there is no compelling reason to go there. We always made a habit of picking up the rental car on Sun. and we made our first stop at silverton for their wonderful brunch. I'm really bummed out. I guess we will have to try Palms now.
I used to stay at Silverton quite frequently. Really nice rooms and a shuttle to Caesars. I played 9/6 Jacks and got free room offers. When they pulled those machines, I moved my play elsewhere.
I'm not a fan of Silverton. Many of the rooms have a cinder block wall obstructing almost all light, much less a view. The beds are good but the furniture in the room is rediculous. (Old cathode ray TVs, a highboy with doors that obstruct the lamps and chairs when the doors are open, an empty space where a refridge is supposed to be…etc). The soap and shampoo samples are a step BELOW Motel 6. The shower is in a tiny tub (an old tub remodeled by inserting a smaller fiberglass job).
The casino plays country music. The clientel is mostly cabalellros (Mexican Cowboys). There is no good video poker.
This is my view of the Silverton. If it matches your idea of a fun time then you will enjoy yourself.
That being said, I am booked twice into the Silverton for my next trip. Both times include free rooms and $75 free slot play. I'm a free play whore.

I became a fan of the Silverton after reading about it in several of Bagiant's past postings. Every quarter I receive a mailer for 3 free nights (any day of the week) per month + $75. in free play. I usually time my trip at the end of a month thru the beginning of the next month. Silverton is close to the car rental center and is the first place I stay and also the last place I stay, which makes returning my rental car a snap. I really like their buffet, even though it is not as good as it used to be. The buffet has a great dessert area. I have found the staff there to be very pleasant and extremely helpful. Check in and check out are quick and easy. Even though the rooms are not up to the standards for some, I am quite comfortable with a cathode ray TV and I have no use for a refrigerator. I have found every room to have a standard sized tub/shower, which suffice quite well. The beds are very comfortable and I always sleep well there. The best part, for me, is the laid back atmosphere. Also, there is a huge Bass Pro Shops , with an entrance from inside the casino area. One other thing, every time I make reservations, no matter who I speak with, I find the personnel the most pleasant I have ever dealt with on the phone. I have and will continue to stay at the Silverton every trip I make to Vegas. Also, I guess I might be in the minority here, but I have had great success here with my gambling. I have hit 2 royals, one for $4000. and another for $2200. my last 2 trips. Silverton works for me.
