Six nights at Palms Place 8/18-8/24

Spent six nights at the Palms Place (August 18-24) and thought I would post a little recap.

Comments & observations:

* We stayed in Palms Place Tower. Remember, there's Palms original Tower, The Palms Fantasy Tower and the Palms Place tower.

* Palms Place was originally intended to be all condos.

* We had a 1200 sq ft 1-bedroom suite.

* Room number 34302. 34th floor corner unit. Wrap around balcony. Incredible Strip, North Vegas and Red Rock views.

* The sliding glass doors were all locked and could not be opened. Evidently over the years too many things have been thrown off the balconies.

* Approximately 100 of the 400+ units in the building are sold and have private owners. The private owners can in fact use the balcony, as they damn well should be able too.

* Overall fit & finish of the unit was only marginal. It's my understanding that the tower was built when the Vegas condo market was going great and they were in a hurry to complete the project and sell the condos.

* Two big LCD TV's in the unit, Full kitchen (oven, full size frig, microwave, dishwasher, etc) The place had a washer & dryer. Nice

* Main bathroom needed attention- poor lightling, the shower always leaked into the sitting area, small vanity, poor quality towels.

* Extremely quiet. We never heard a single person, no TV sounds, music nothing. Very very quiet. Nice.

* Excellent valet service. I valet parked the car 2-3 every day and the boys were always super fast. The chariot was a 2012 Chrysler 300 C with lots of chrome, so the car was frequently parked right in front. Very nice.

* We ate at Simon three times. Good service, excellent food, IMO.

* Young, less than stellar concierge staff. Solid front desk staff. Friendly bartenders in ROJO, the bar in the lobby of PP Tower.

* I would grade housekeeping as C+. The room was made up daily, but nothing more than the minimum.

* Did I mention stunning sunrise views? OK, stunning sunrise and sunset views.

* Smallish pool but that was fine as most people went over to the big popular pool at the original Palms.

* Excellent Drift Spa. Used it several times.

Nice info. Was this on a comp or did you pay.... and if, what was the tab?
Not a comp but very close.

We paid $29.00 per night. No resort fee. The nice price and upgrade was due to us (Showtime Sports) doing a fair amount of business with the Palms back in 2011.
Thanks, Tommy. Good info.

Love the sound of that view. Washer/dryer a plus.
Bathroom would be a deal breaker, though.

We've had two concierge experiences:
Caesars--could have done just as well opening the yellow pages, nil enthusiasm.
Harrah's Lake Tahoe--very engaging, interested, helpful.

Generally get good service of that type from front desk folks.

Yes that bathroom issue was strange. The fixes were very easy and in expensive.

Install above mirror lighting all the way across the top of the mirror with dimmer. Easy.

Run a bead of clear caulking along the tile below the glass shower door.

Spend a few bucks more for towels.

The shower was huge with three heads, huge overhead waterfall and two wall heads that angled across the shower.
