Thanks for the continuing updates! Though your sample size isn't going to be large enough to draw any definitive conclusions, it looks like this is at least as good as it has been in the past...on a per-day basis, anyway. And per my earlier post, it might be the same on a total return to players basis.
It's slightly more annoying for visitors than previous versions, in that you want to play it three times, you have to be there five days--and one of those days is a sky-high room rate Friday. Though I suppose you could book Mon-Thurs and let your Friday play be your farewell gesture.
In general, properties that still have decent promos (those dwindling few!) seem to be making it harder for visitors to take advantage. I guess this is a continuation of the "fuck you, non-locals" trend begun recently by Stations.
Four Queens, after a no March Madness for you! hiatus, has resumed sending me my regular monthly $40+two nights+30% off mailer, so obviously my not being a local hasn't changed anything there. The 4Q is still the obvious place to stay and play downtown.

Kevin: Don't you think it is too cramped and smoky though? Plus, I was sweltering in there on my trip in Jan. Everything else though I do like.
Don: Thanks for updates. I'll be giving next Mon and Wed a try as well.

Well, I can't think of any casino that doesn't have something wrong with it ambiance-wise...except maybe for the big glitzy Strip megatoilets, whose negative ambiance is that everything costs three arms and four legs and the gambling absolutely sucks rocks. They're nice inside, but...
The 4Q, I like because the rooms are perfectly OK (as long as you stay in the South Tower) and reasonably priced; you can play good VP and actually earn decent comps and offers; and the food at Magnolia's is pretty good (have the gumbo). Yeah, it's a little smoky in there, but where isn't it? And at least you don't stagger outside, bleeding from the ears like you do at Circa or the D. Plus, the location is perfect if you want to visit other downtown casinos (LVA run!).

Most of that is very true. Especially the bleeding ears from Circa and The D. I've yet to eat at Magnolia's but the menu looks very good.
Have you played poker at the Horseshoe yet? Nice room and $200 every 20 minutes for high hand is pretty good. The only negative is they look at you like you are crazy if you raise pre-flop in 4/8 because they think every hand is going to carve out a high hand. The high hand is pure luck as one card plays. The $1/$2 blinds are real odd as well.

Not yet, but I've heard good things about the room. About the hotel, nothing but bad things---apparently, all they've really done is slap the HORSESHIT, sorry, HORSESHOE sign on it. The rooms are seriously in need of remodeling. And of course, food options are hideously overpriced, in time-honored Strip fashion.
I haven't played very much limit in Vegas because I'm spoiled from playing in 4/8 heaven: Washington State. Lower rake than almost anywhere else ($3 or $4 max), and all sorts of insane promos. Plus, great food for cheap, which will be brought to your table (Asian food in particular). If you ever find yourself up there, you should check it out. Oh, and the players absolutely suck. Cold calling double raises with J8o preflop, that sort of nonsense. And the pots get so big so early that basically everybody calls with even two blank cards postflop. It's a license to print money, as long as you can fade the variance, which is ridiculous for a limit game.

That sounds like a great game.
Yeah, the deli right next to the poker room is way overpriced and most of the dealers/players say it sucks too. I can believe what you said about the hotel as well. I walked in the front where room is located and right out when I was there in January after playing. I found that game pretty easy as well. 15 hours in a trip gets you in the bi-weekly free roll which isn't super hard to cash in. I'd say 40% get paid. Good if you can get the 15 hours in. That took a little more than I thought it was going to in January.
