South Point August Promotion

Received the August mailer today. Here's the promo for the month:

"Beginning August 7 at 3am, earn 1,000 same day points on slots or 3,300 same day points on Video Poker. Once you've earned your points, touch the U-Spin button on your machine to spin the wheel. Spin up to 3 times a day."

The prizes are points or free play. The point prizes are 100,000, 50,000, 25,000,10,000 5,000 or 2,500.

The free play amounts are $100, $50, $25, $10 $5.

For video poker players, they reduced the number of points needed compared to the same promotion in April. Then it was 3,350 points per spin. This month's mailer did NOT say you keep the points, but in past promotions like this, you did. For what its worth, in April, for both Mrs. Don and myself the spins added a .59% return. In June of 2022, it was worth .56%.

Can you clarify with someone whether you do or don't keep your points? I would imagine you do, as in previous iterations of this promo, but if not, you're getting $10 less per spin, in effect, than if you did keep them. (I can't really see how the "U-spin" feature at your machine would even be able to subtract those 3,300 points from your balance.)

Taking the somewhat pessimistic view that you can count on a .5% return, this makes NSUD pretty close to a pointless FPDW game. This is as good as it's ever gonna get, though the 4Q games+promos are often even better.

I saw a pdf, which unfortunately I couldn't blow up enough to read, of a South Point rate calendar for August and September--some sort of sale going on. Did you see that?

What days of the week is this promo this time, Don?  Last time I thought I remember you saying M/W/F which would not be ideal for me as an out of towner.

Kevin won't go to Vegas in August....too hot.  Or so he claims at least.

My brother in law, who lives in Phoenix, poor bastard, wanted to go to Vegas in June but was horrified by room rates. I told him August might be better and have been researching for him. So far, it looks like August is no longer the bargain time it used to be.

I wouldn't go to Vegas in August if you paid me, but for him, it's almost literally jumping from the frying pan into the fire. Might even be a little cooler.

That may work for me actually.  Might be out 8/30-9/3.  Well at least one day.

Thanks for info early as always.

Fer a little slap n' tickle? Afterward, watch David lose at blackjack, scream at the dealer and tell her she's a liar and a traitor and is destroying America, and see how many times he bounces when he gets thrown out.

It seems like they're not only not interested in attracting out-of-towners, they're actively hostile to them.

With a 10+-year history of pretty much the same play on the same machines, they've gone from good offers to mediocre offers to no offers--at least for me. There were promos that I could still take advantage of. Now, I can't really even do that. And $36K of coin-in on my last trip--quite a few months ago--generated zip zilch nada in offers.

Funny, since so much of their infrastructure is designed to serve VISITORS. I guess they expect to get those visitors no matter what.

That is surprising with $36K in.  I think they may give better offers if you go like 4-5x a year.  I play a lot of poker and I don't put that $36k through the machines on a given trip but maybe they look at it annually or quarterly which probably helps my case.  Are you going there just once a year or something like that?

That said, I get pretty bare minimum with offers.  Two nights Sun-Thurs comped.  Southpoint has always had an odd method of doing comps if you ask me.
