South Point August Promotion

I see it.  Garbage one that only is good for locals.  More and more they are doing this these days.

They've been pissing on visitors for years, while catering to locals. The offers I've gotten over the course of more than a decade have delined from sporadic to very occasional to absolutely nothing. They likewise craft their promos so that much of the time, only locals can really take advantage of them.

This has always seemed weird to me, as much of their property is definitely designed to appeal to and attract visitors--bowling tournaments, the horsey crap, and of course, a very nice hotel. It's sorta like they're saying, you out-of-towners will come here regardless, so we don't need to offer anything extra--but we need to dangle bait in front of the locals to get them to drive over here.

And of course, we've been debating for years on whether your being a loser generates offers, while being a winner chokes them off--regardless of what you play. Anecdotal evidence strongly suggests that that is the case. My lifetime results there have been more along the lines of "didn't lose" rather than "raped and pillaged." but maybe that's enough to put you on the nogoodnik list. As I've said before, they don't even bother to send me mail or emails, even though my lifetime coin-in there is well over $1 million.

Strange - I always get great offers from South Point and I live in the great state of Texas - and these offers have been a constant for years. As a matter of fact, I have trips scheduled for Oct/Nov, December and Feb/March - all with rooms comped @ South Point (and elsewhere) and with free play. I am not a high roller, just 25 cent - 50 cent - and $1 video poker player. I am an avid Jean Scot advocate and utilize being nice, showing respect and above all not whining, bitching and moaning. I believe that those attributes have and continue to pay off with the offers I receive.

That is better than my lifetime coin-in I bet but I'm definitely down there lifetime as well.  Just not very lucky in there despite pretty good games.  Usually I end up losing more than I win playing live poker there.  So not killed but I hardly ever win, especially in the last 2-3 years.

But Iike I've said, I go about 4-6x a year and maybe that has something to do with it as well.  (just that consistent coin-in)

David's better treatment may have had a lot to do with his lifetime status as a consistent and substantial loser, as he's forthrightly told us that he does not play the proper video poker strategies. It is unlikely that the slot or marketing departments evaluate one's personality when deciding whether to send offers. If they did, David's "whining, bitching, and moaning" a dozen+ times a day in the Kitchen Sink forum would certainly be detrimental to him. I don't know if he is nice and shows respect to others when he is not posting on that and other forums and calling people liars and traitors and telling them that they're destroying America. I don't see how talking that way to an uncooperative video poker machine, or being nice to it for that matter, would affect offers. But maybe the AI is more sophisticated that we thought...

I also doubt that being a Jean Scott (not "Scot") advocate has anything to do with the offers one does or does not receive, though playing according to her methods, which David has admitted he does not do, may affect what offers one receives.

I certainly hope, for David's sake, that his behavior and exhibited personality in these forums, especially the Sink, are not indicative of his behavior in the Vegas casinos.

I've recently been playing live poker in Portland. $20 a day to play, no rake. No promos bleeding the pots, either. One gets very sick of playing casino poker and seeing $7 disappear from every single pot, even if some of it goes to a promo where you win 48 gazillion dollars if you lose with a straight flush in spades on a Tuesday. Or worse, to fund some promo that goes to the old men zombies as a reward for sitting there like tree stumps.

And good God, the action in Portland. There's a disease circulating called "bomb pots," which are all the rage. Basically two-board five-card PLO, but no-limit. I see $1000+ pots all the time. The skill level is pretty low overall. That goes for the regular 1-2 holdem as well. You should come try it sometime.

The fact of the matter is - this is another exmple of Lewis bringing content that belongs in the Sink into a section of the forums that is not the Sink. He is just another one of those who says  --- "do as I say not as I do" people. I have structured my Vegas trips around the advice that Jean Scott has written ( I have all of her books), contrary to what Lewis lyingly says. As a result, I recieve great offers on a consistent basis. His comments about my success and temperment is just conjecture on his part. I believe that the terseness of his postings here is an indication as to why he receives the offers he gets. One reaps what one sows....

I wonder if David could provide proof of his assertion that casinos provide offers based on whether a player adheres (or claims to adhere, at least) to the advice of Jean Scott. I also wonder if he could provide proof of his assertion that casino offers are dependent on a player's personality and behavior.

Furthermore, I marvel at David's statement that the offers one receives are related to the "terseness" of one's postings on the LVA forums. Is it better to be terse or not to be terse? He doesn't explain. (Unless, of course, he doesn't know what the word "terse" means...)

David is not exactly the person who should complain about "bringing content" from the Sink to other forums. He's been bringing personal attack garbage to these other forums for years. He's not one to complain (though complaining is what he does best, by far).

Ah...so you didn't know what it actually meant until you looked it up. Do you still believe that the terseness of one's LVA forum postings affects the casino offers one receives?
