South Point December Promotion

Got the mailer yesterday:

- 12/18 (Mon) thru 12/23 (Sat) 50% off when usung your Club Card. Just about the only thing excluded is Starbucks.

- 12/18 (Mon) - Earn 100 points on slots or 300 points on VP  - 10am to 9pm - receice a 3 piece mini set of holiday Yankee candles.

- Regular free play for the four weeks.

Funny how their various and sundry promos all equate to an 0.3% boost in return to the player, whether it's Wally cards or a spin on a virtual wheel or free play for X play. This one is a bit more versatile, though. Word of warning: during the 50% off week, all the restaurants are really crowded, as locals have saved up their points for that week.

Used to be darn near the whole month of Dec.  Then back half of Dec.  Now a 5 day period in Dec.  

Promos are even dipping at SP but it is still light year's better than most places.  

Thanks for update.  I was there the last week of November and did OK.  Got me some Walmart cards as well.  

Don:  If you hear about January promotions, can you post them?  I'm headed out in early January and SP is real slow to post them usually.  Kind of hoping for the wheel spin but I'm going to bet it is the two meter mandatory payoff one.  Up to $2.5K free play or up to $25K cash.  (not one I love)

I don't think it'll matter much what style of promo they offer. Pretty much everything they come up with gives 0.3% extra. Either we can calculate that precisely, or we know it from Don the Dentist's excellent and detailed reports.

I dislike promos with big top prizes because I know I ain't gonna get the biggie, and the smaller prizes are necessarily lower to pay for the big prizes. There's also the element of uncertainty, as opposed to the "play X, get Y" style of promos.

Of course, promos won't exist at all in the very near future, being shoved into the waste bin where 3:2 blackjack, comps, free parking, decently priced food, etc. all now reside. I don't expect South Point to be around in its present incarnation in two years BTW. It's too successful and will inevitably attract some megacorporation that will buy it up and turn it into just another Strip megatoilet.

Agreed on the big top prize promo because you know it isn't going to some vp player.....despite however "random" they say it is.  

Hope not with SP.  It is one of the very few places that gets me to still come to Vegas.

Historically the January promo has been:

Jan 2021 - Spin the Wheel at your machine. 8,000 points = 4 spins.

Jan 2022 - same as 2021

Jan 2023 - Promo aimed at locals. Do your "regular" free play Mon, Tues or Wed and get "bonus" free play of the same amount on Fri or Sat. Do this all four weeks in the month and get "extra bonus" free play at the end of the month.

My guess...and its only a guess...is that 2024 will be the same as 2023.

Good for you...but awful for visitors.
