South Point March Promotion

Another lame month for SP promotions. I can sorta understand with March Madness in the second half of the month.

-Hot Seat Giveway St. Patrick's Day 3/17 - 8am to Midnight - 20 $100 FP winners every hour - random

-Moonshine Giveway - 3/13 to 3/15 - 750 points on slots or 2,000 on VP gets one bottle. If you really want it.

That's it. Another bad month. That's two in a row.

It's pretty much a trope now. March is one of the few months when Vegas weather is actually pleasant, and at the same time, Old Man Winter is still sitting on much of the country. Couple that with March Madness, and the casinos are saying, "We don't need to offer any deals. Up yours, customers, come here and pay through the nose."

When I worked in Reno casinos, February and March were very, very busy--with Canadians. Winter fever was very pronounced that time of year. I wonder to what extent Trump lifting his hind leg and pissing on Canada is doing to Canadian visitation this time of year.

As far as South Point goes, we all know they're inexorably tightening the screws. They're now only barely worth visiting, and only if you're a local. Hopefully, later in the year, they'll still have the Wally Mart/gas card promo, even though it's worth only half what it used to be.

Don, do they still send you mailers, and is the action you give them only on the best VP they offer (NSUD, I assume)?

Our mailers have been drastically reduced to only $10 and/or $20 FP per week and very little if any food comps. This because after South Point cut the cash back in half starting in August 2025, we have greatly reduced our play, unless the monthly promo warrents it.

The only game we play is the NSUD.

I enjoy SP and stay a few times a year. This last time I called since I didn't have mailer in front of me and the staff was so RUDE. She stated that if you don't have a mialer I can't check for rooms you need to call a host. My friend who called a few minutes earlier was able to book comped roomes. Note she didnt even ask for ny card number.

Southpoint is by far the most attractive and best casino by value, from what I have noticed. The rooms are spacious, the food in the restaurant is good and not expensive, and the gaming variety is massive. Even the poker action is good, especially on the weekends.  I have been visiting the Southpoint for many years now, and will continue visiting. No reason to stay on the Strip where everything is completely overpriced and gaming sux big league.  I like the concept of the Southpoint. It's something for everyone, especially for the normal gambler. From Switzerland / Boris

Sounds like you tried to book a room with regular room reservations agent. To avoid that problem with regular room reservations, always ask for a slot host where you will be transferred to the host personnel in the slot host office. They will be able to help you with whatever offers you may have once you furnish your players card number.

Thanks I always feel funny asking for a host. I have always in the past just called the regular line with good success. I have seen a host before leaving and usually get most of my food/stay comped. Love Don Vitos.

I usually just use the regular reservation line too, unless I'm planning too far out. Then I do talk to a host. And I make sure to use the Jean Scott method,  by just asking, and politely.  SP is our go to casino nowadays.  I hope the good play lasts as long as we can travel.

I have my fingers crossed for a good promo in May for our next trip.

In the past, that has been the month for the Chevron gas card/Wally Mart card promo. It adds 0.3% to your payback, assuming they haven't made it worse.
