South Point Video Poker Now $2 per Point

Curious why the $1 slots/$2 VP is included in the promo rules.  If I'm reading it right, that has nothing to do with which "winners" will be in a "hot seat" at the time to win $100.  Perhaps an avenue to put out the word about the reduction.

Yeah, if they don't make sure that everyone knows about the reduction, the players' club could be besieged by angry crowds waving pitchforks and torches. Locals tend to be hyper-aware of their players' club and comp balances.

At least they didn't do this the way Big Boyd did a few years ago, simply making it impossible for bottom-tier (Ruby Booby) players to earn points at all--without informing everybody of the change. People were NOT happy. There were people who sank, like, $800 into a Super Sucker slot and then said, "Oh well, at least I earned enough points for a dinner comp" and Big Boyd said, "Think again, SUCKER!!"

That is disappointing. I was hoping their August promo would be worth playing - because I'm coming out with my Mom, and she really enjoys Video Poker...

The August promo is a dud, and the club downgrade is huge. Bummer.

And yet they have big 2 page ads in the LVRJ touting the return on playing slot machines.  There is no mention of a different earning rate for video poker.

As unfortunate as the downgrade is, the gaslighting slap in the face that is the ad makes it extra-unlikely I'll be stepping foot in that casino anytime soon 👀🙃😒

Well, to be fair, they still do have the best players' club return for slot players--by FAR--and their new, worse VP return is also still the best at 0.15%--the best you'll find elsewhere is 0.1%, and direct competitors Station and Boyd only give out 0.05%.

I agree that the VP return is bad news, but teally--would you expect them to mention that in an ad that cost them tens of thousands of dollars to run?

I'm looking at this a bit differently. For two decades, SP had this great players' club because they were competing with Stations and Boyd--both of which also had great slot clubs. But post-pandemic, and even before then, both companies turned their slot clubs to absolute, total shit. You don't even earn ANY points with Boyd until you've dumped $750K into their machines!

So there was really no reason for SP to go on returning six times as much (0.3 vs 0.05%} to VP players as its competitors. I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner, actually.

Also, this might convert some VP players into slot players, which is what they'd love to see.

The players club used by Binion’s and Four Queens, is the best for video poker players and near the top for slots. Players receive both cash back and comps that may be used for hotel rooms. Slot players receive 0.5% in cash and 1% in comps. Most video poker games return 0.3125% in cash and 0.625% in comps. Some full-pay machines have lower payouts. Mailers are also available for free slot play, food, and hotel rooms. South Point South Point has one of the best players clubs for video poker players. Points return 0.3% for these players. That turns the best game, 16/10 Deuces Wild, slightly positive, and gets 9/6 Bonus Poker Deluxe and Jacks or Better close. Slot players get the same returns. South Point also mails free play and hotel offers to players - https://vegasadvantage.com/best-players-clubs-for-gambling-in-las-vegas/

I didn't include the 4Q, because I was comparing only SP and other locals' casinos. I should have made that more clear. David's correct about the 4Q's slot club return.

Though Binions and 4Q share the same owner and slot club, Binions shouldn't be lumped together with 4Q, because the best game Binions has is 8/5 Bonus, and only a few of those.

However, David has the South Point info wrong. The return for video poker players is now 0.15%, half of the previous 0.3%. That's why copy-and-paste from rando websites isn't a good way to do research. What David copied was true a couple of weeks ago. It isn't now.

The "rando website" is the vegasadvantage.com - which has been a reliable source of Vegas gambling information for years. The article I referenced was posted August 18 - 4 days ago. I affirm that the South Point VP return was incorrectly reported. - which means that the South Point is not as great as was claimed in comparison to the 4 Queens/Binion's slot club return. My point is that the South Point does not provide the best players club return for VP players as was stated in the post Lewis made - therefore South point is not "by FAR" the best as was claimed. Whenever one posts information the information reported should be factual - which was not the case with the misleading information Lewis posted.

I already said that I made a mistake by leaving the 4Q out of my comparison. And you made a mistake by copying and pasting incorrect info. So let's not continue your little vendetta. Other LVA members aren't amused by your stalking me.
