Southpoint remodel

In my email about my upcoming reservation at Southpoint, was the news that they are remodeling the guest room bathrooms.  Has anyone seen a completed bathroom with walk in showers?  If I want one, do you think I can call and put that request on my reservation?

Interesting.  I really like gambling there but haven't stayed there yet

We just got back from Vegas and stayed at SP, we had a room with a walk-in shower, I guess that was remodeled.  It was a nice shower, bathroom is unchanged otherwise.  What else can I tell you about it?

Boy, I wish that there were more walk-in showers in hotels everywhere. Those tub/showers are a good place to die; there are rarely even any grab bars and almost never any traction strips on the tub floor.

Some people will still want to soak in tubs, but IMHO the ratio of tubs/walk-ins should be reversed. In addition to the safety issues, I get a better and nicer shower in the roomier walk-ins

Thanks jstewa22, we just got back also.  The desk clerk happily obliged my request for a remodeled room.  The walkin shower was great and the sink room was updated also.  Much better lighting than before.  Can't wait to return!

Do you have any data on how many people have died in Las Vegas hotel tubs vs ones who died in showers showers?

Kevin was being facetious, which you get from the rest of his post.

And, like Kevin, I prefer the shower only, compared to the shower/tub combo.  Much easier to navigate at an older age.  More a preference than anything, which is why I like the Westgate or Tuscany, which have stand alone showers.  The Tuscany also has a stand alone tub along with the stand alone shower, which my wife prefers.  And with comped rooms there is no resort fee at either place.

Let the man speak for himself.   If you think he is being facetious then you haven't read his post history.   There is nothing in rest of his post to suggest anything other than Kevin being Kevin.  Kevin is the resident "expert" on everything, so I am sure he is speaking factually and certainly in his mind.   I just wanted to challenge him to defend his statement.

Kevin uses a lot of irony in his writing.  His objective-humor.  And he didn't slam anybody, for Pete's sake.

I've always preferred a tub for post-casino soak.  BUT, is there something about turning 78 years old? Because all of a sudden I'm struggling to get in and out of my own bathtub at home.  Death by head injury or just being trapped in it for hours seems like a real possibility.  I think I' ve already twisted a knee.

I'm gonna have to switch.

JMHO, but I doubt that data on in-hotel deaths in Vegas from any cause will ever be published, if even gathered.  He is also correct that few tubs have strategically placed grab bars, if they have any at all.  The only 'death' data I ever heard was during a tour at Hoover Dam.  The "jumper" numbers (suicide) were impressive, er sad.  Especially after they installed the "spikes" to deflect the glaring sunlight off the dam face against tourists' eyes.  Gruesome results.

I don't have to "defend" anything I've said, least of all to you. And if you're ignorant of the hazardous nature of shower/tub combos, that's not my problem.

I know that your vitriol isn't even honest, but rather, due to our opposing political views. You're from the side that thinks the opinions of others aren't valid. And as far as "somebody being somebody" is concerned--i refer you to your worship of your orange god.

Have an unpleasant day.
