Suncoast vs. Main Street Station/Orleans?

I have stayed at all three the last year. Suncoast has the best rooms. Main Street rooms tend to be a bit noisy at it is next to the freeway and close to the railroad tracks. Suncoast rooms all had refrigerators, Main Street on higher floors only, Orleans no refrigerators.
Suncoast would be too far removed for me (and I think your gal, who likes the strip vibe like I do) so it would be between MSS and Orleans. Then it depends whether you like DT more or the Strip more. I'd prefer Orleans because of the easy access to the strip by shuttle or car. Orleans itself, however, also has decent VP, a cheap buffet that can wind up being free with coupons, a fitness center and spa (that I believe MSS doesn't have and the fitness center I know is important to you), a poker room (MSS I believe doesn't have one), decent rooms, always promos/drawings going on, good live entertainment many nights and a movie theatre if you want a break and want to do something else. In addition to all those reasons, I think the "energy" at Orleans is a lot better than at MSS, which is fine but now just seems so quiet and isolated to me.

Knowing you big brother as I do , I think for you, among the three properties, it's Orleans hands down. Among those three properties, it would be my choice as well.
Thanks 1 and all for the feedback! My girl got her vacation confirmation today and were off the Vegas 8/12-20th. Having said that let me repsond to what I've read so far!

Our likes (Kim and I)...Good Vp 8/5 bonus for her and DB, DDB and triple Double Bonus for me
We both love playing Paigow Bonus too!!!

Kim is more into how the room looks than I. (Nmterlv..she hated the Gold Coast because she said it smelled and the water was slightly backed up in the bathroom sink when we first got in the room!) So the nicest room of the 3 hotels is important. I just Sleep, Shower, Shave and ......never mind... when I'm in the room!

I like a poker room with all the bells and whistles promos. Bad beats..High hands, free rolls etc etc. That would be between Orleans and the Suncoast. I have never played poker at either but my Limit Hold me game has improved (so im ready to teach the locals a thing or 2!!!!!)

Kim like to eats salads and stuff like that. I'm more of a meat and potatoes guy!! I used to be a buffet guy (tried both Orleans and MSS) but when traveling with Kim a buffet is a waste of money because all she wants is a salad..or something similar or fish!!! Any advice is greatly appreciated in this area.

Kim also likes to window shop but I doubt that any of the aforementioned casinos have much in that category! I could be wrong though. I am curious who has the biggest gift shop of the 3 (MSS, Orleans and Suncoast)

I really like the Red Rock and Green Valley spa's but I'm satisfied with a fitness room with ample iron/cardio and a spa with the sound of waterfalls, a sauna, steam room, fruit/hot tea in the mens lounge (or some combination of some of the above would be nice). I'm not familar with the Orleans spa/fitness facilities nor Suncoast, but I'm curious about how they compares. I don't believe that the MSS has either!!

Location is not much of an issue since I always rent a car. Heck the last 2 years I've had a room at the Aliante (albeit double booked at MSS at the same time in case we didn't want to ride back late at night) so you folks get the idea!!!

Kims brother will be coming along with his girl, and they are first timers so whichever rooms we don't use we will book for them to use since they are free. Both Kim and I have offers from all 3. Both Orleans and Suncoast offers are 2 free nights any day of the week. MSS is for 3 nights but only between Sun-Friday. Undoubtly we may double book or connect to 1 or more of our Stations offers i.e Suncoast and then the Aliante and/or Orleans and then Sante Fe or Sunset Station!! Red Rock and GVR want money now with thier promos!!

Thank you Sadlass, Lt.ax, Kiwi, fredo, mheider, ekim, nmter, shiver, lindsay and LIL SIS for all the positive feedback. Hopefullysome of you have some specifics with regards to waht I asked above.

P.s. I haven't bought my Members rewards book yet this year. Is it worth it (considering where I'm staying at)???

Champ- No longer a buffet guy? Say it ain't so!!

That being said - The MRB may not be a good value for you, this year.

The best coupons are for buffets (PH, Paris,Red Rock,GVR,Mirage,Rio), among others.

OK - Are you hungry yet??

Also, some free play ($10) and a bogo at 4Queens - Magnolia's. Also, the Golden Nugget buffet 2for1.

I know it was worth it for me, and we don't even use the downtown or Palm's coupons.

- Dave in Hockey Heaven (Pegulaville)

Dave..probably the buffet coups where 1 can eat by themselves at 50% off. I'd be hard pressed to be near the "Spice market" or "Le village buffet" and not mstop in. Maybe while Kim is hanging out somewhere with LIL Sis (something tells me she'll (Lil Sis) be in Vegas at the same time we are).

Shhhh just dont tell anyone when I sneak of for a crab leg or 2!

P.s. .... I AM getting hungry!!!
Champ: sadly, I think the 50% off buffet coupons are becoming as extinct as the Bills' playoff hopes.

Wondering how the Suncoast rooms/Hotel match up against M.S.S. and Orleans?

We've never stayed at the Suncoast but I'm sure some LVA'er can speak to their accomodations vs. either MSS or the Orleans.

Thanks in advance!

I would like to hear more about the Gold Coast room experience. I have wondered about the rooms there, yet have never stayed there, and not sure I would want to, but others say it is OK. But is it?

I have stayed there often in the past and really liked it. When they ditched the cafe and fpdw they lost me. Still some good VP but not great, depending on what you like. Rooms can be noisy, and free rooms tended to not be the remodeled ones. Check-in was usually great and personable. I liked it at the time, which included frequent trips across the street to my favorite joint at that time. But, alas, the Palms has gone to shik, as well. Breakfast buffet used to be great. Southcoast has a crowd a little more to my liking than Orleans, the melting pot of Vegas, with lots and lots and lots of Asians and kids and uncouth of various descriptions.
