Sunset or Aliante Station?

Planning for our Memorial Day weekend trip. Since Coast has cut our offers back I'm considering taking advantage of Station offers. We will have a rental so getting around is not a major consideration. If I had to choose between Sunset, Palace, Boulder and Aliante Stations which should I choose. We like a nice pool area and a clean, up-to-date room. I will assume that the dining choices will be about equal. We are 60 somethings and not partyers or bowlers or anything else that requires a lot of effort or heavy drinking, eating, lifting of heavy weights or glasses. We tend to play where we stay so a good selection of full pay video poker and up to date slots are a must.

Any advice or thoughts?

Aliante is the nicest/newest of the 4 you mentioned -- luxurious rooms, beautiful pool area (including cabanas and beds), excellent buffet, Italian restaurant, steakhouse. Lots of full-pay VP (19 machines in various areas of the casino, including 3 in the no-smoking area). All the newest slots. With a car, it's not difficult to get anywhere, as it's right off the 215 beltway.
I still have to get out there and check out Aliante!

Would avoid Sunset for a few reasons.

First, it is a very long walk from the casino to the elevators to the room. If you think this won't bother you, let me tell you -- yes it will.

The bathrooms in the rooms have some drawbacks. No grab bar, no soap dish, no corners to put your foot up. The bathtub-shower is like a sheer wall of tile with nothing to hold onto. The tile is textured, so if you shave in the shower, your shaving mirror doesn't stick.

Sunset has full pay games, DB, DDB, and Loose Deuces, but NO Full-pay Deuces wild. Someone posted on VP free that they again have FPDW in nickels, but I could not find them.

There are things we like about Sunset (the restaurants, the 3 and 5 play, and the decor), but for someone just starting out, I would not recommend the hotel rooms.

I have not been to Aliante so I can't comment on that. It just looks SUPER far away to me, and with the price of gas, it would have to be spectacular. Which I suspect it just might be.

As an out of towner who goes 4 or 5 times a year and rents a car and stays wherever I get a decent rate, I liked Sunset and just think Aliante is in the middle of nowhere but it is nice to visit. I did not stay in a room. There is no other casino around it that I know of. Sunset's buffet is pretty good not the best but pretty good I think for the price. Same with Aliante maybe a bit better.

From Sunset it is not too far to Boulder Highway where there are some bad casinos if you wnat to go back 50 years but also Eastside Cannery and Sam's Town. Green Valley Ranch is very nice and not that far from Sunset.

Also for me it depends upon the rate. You will save money at Boulder and Palace but they do not compare to the others. Palace also has gardenapartment/motel like rooms they advertise all the time so be careful.

From Susnet is is an easy drive to Downtown as well and closer to Hoover Dam is you are thinking about that.

Coast cut my offers back as well so I float around more now also. Good luck!

I understand that Aliente has the best Slot Club employee in the country.
LOL. Thanks, TB.

Aliante is no further from downtown (25-minute drive) than Sunset is. It is not SUPER far away, lol. It's also about a 10-minute drive from Santa Fe Station and the Cannery, and about 15 minutes to Texas Station and Fiesta Rancho.

And if you're a .25 FPDW player, the game is in all 19 of the "optimum" machines.

The pool and the rooms at Aliante are far superior to Sunset's.
It amazes me that people feel M and Aliante are so far away.
I find it funny also. As i am staying at both M Resort and Aliante Station in a few days.
What's really funny to me is that I love M, and I still think Aliante is "far away" from everything. I looked on a map and it's actually a hair closer to downtown compared to M.

We were going to stay at Aliante on our upcoming trip, but there were "sold out" dates for the offer that we got which conflicted with when we needed to stay there (airfare is already purchased). We're going to stay at Red Rock for five nights instead, and spend the last two nights at M.
