Sunset or Aliante Station?

Thank you, drmilled. The point is that while Sunset may be fewer miles from downtown than Aliante is, it's not significant if Sunset doesn't meet the original poster's needs. It's worth the drive to Aliante because we have what he is looking for. He said "getting around is not a major consideration." He's looking for a beautiful room, a beautiful pool, and plenty of good machines, VP and slots. Aliante has all that.

Excellent point, emphasizing why it was so weird for last week's version of suecasey to write this:

When 2 drives are about 5 minutes different, I don't consider it worth arguing about. You apparently don't agree and chose to continue to argue about something you know nothing about. Enough, already. You hijacked this thread away from its original purpose long ago, in order to get on your high horse. It's time to put an end to it.
Sue,
Why not put him on "ignore" like the rest of us did some time ago?

Hi Sue,
Sheila and I will be staying at Aliante Station next Thursday,Friday and Saturday nights.
Just wondering if you will be working any of these days and if so where can we find you?

Mike and Sheila T-5
I dont have my schedule yet for next week, Mike, so I don't know what to tell you. You can ask for me at the rewards center. If I'm not there, someone should be able to tell you when I will be. BTW, while you're at the rewards center, feel free to fill out a comment card if you have anything you'd like to tell management. (You can mention my name if you want to, lol.)
Sue,
We are not leaving until next Tues. morning so i'll check back on Monday to see if you have your days yet.
At Aliante Station you will be paying a valet tip and a bellhop tip whether you want to or not. Than's the way the entrance to the hotel is set up. If you're playing slots or vp away from the table games you will have a long wait to get drink service very late at night. In December we were there for three nights and had to make a couple of trips to get necessities (one was to a drug store) which took a very long time. While there were a lot of heavy construction vehicles around Aliante when we were there, the casino/hotel itself just seemed to be sitting by itself in the desert with no businesses anywhere around. On the positive side, the rooms are ultra-modern and very nice, and the slots and vp machines are (or seem) new. In addition, all of the casino personnel went out of their way to be helpful and pleasant, even the ones that weren't expecting a tip.

My wife and I have a friend who wouldn't go to Sunset Station again because of the long walk from the elevators to the casino, but if you like to walk it's bracing, and there is a nice coffee shop at the end of the last long hall that leads into the casino where you can stop for a drink or a snack. In all the Aliante is so new, nice, and upscale that I would go there. All in all, I'm sure you'll have a good time at either Station.
"At Aliante Station you will be paying a valet tip and a bellhop tip whether you want to or not. Than's the way the entrance to the hotel is set up. "

This is absolutely WRONG! There is public "self-parking" available all around the place, including the front of the hotel just off of Aliante Pkwy. There is also temporary parking for checking in and unloading bags. My friends have stayed there a couple of times and have never used the valet OR bellhops. I don't know where you got such an outlandish idea.

CVS is directly across the street from the casino. The gift shop in the hotel carries all sorts of "necessities" and is open till midnight. Aliante is not sitting alone in the desert -- it's in a residential neighborhood. It's just to the north of the 215 beltway. If you cross the beltway, you will immediately find a shopping mall that includes a gas station and convenience store, a Smith's supermarket, dry cleaners, liquor store (Lee's), several fast-food outlets, a Starbucks, and other businesses. Again, you are totally WRONG.

I have no idea what heavy construction vehicles you saw. There are none there now, and I haven't seen any around there in a couple of years, since they finished building the beltway interchange.
It looks like Aliante is going to be sold off, so if you want to keep you points in "station" it might be better at Sunset.
