tAny Silverton rooms better than others

Hi Justmare,

I am truly glad that when you have stayed at the silverton and that everything worked like a charm. I am also sorry that your room not being made up has happened to you any times. Thankfully that was the first time it has happened to me. And if you noticed i wasn't happy about not having my room done but was more upset about the the man at the front desk who gave me the yeah so what attitude. Time are tough and we all have to work extra at our jobs but it still does not give some one the right to be rude. My husband and i are planning another trip in February and will still go see the waitress at the Shady Grove Lounge and will drop some money at Bass Pro shop. But it will be awhile before i stay there again, if ever. I truly like the way i am treated at the Sunset. I know we all have our favorite hotels and are very protective of them. One of the reason i like these boards is we get different points of view for the same hotel. We take that knowledge and then go and make up our own minds. In fact i know i have read many reports from you and have they have helped me in making up my mind. Please keep the reports coming we all can use them.

PJ,

Probably nothing at check in because most get their goodies with their mailers. For our March trip we get $25 food credit and $75 in free play. We check in and head to the players club. If you played a bit, that is what you can expect in the mail soon.

Kelly,

I'm not being protective of Silverton (and it's not my favorite hotel). I'm the first person to point out their shortfalls (and have many times on these boards). What I object to is basing an opinion on one incident by one employee. Yes, it sucks to have someone be rude and make you feel like you don't matter. There's no excuse for that other than we're all human and we all have bad days. I've experienced it at many different hotels and I always make sure I lodge a complaint. I'm just saying it's really a shame that you wouldn't stay there again because of that and your room not being cleaned. If it was reported that those things happened consistently then we could consider them the norm for Silverton, but that has not been the case. Most have reported good experiences. I'm glad you have someplace you really like to fall back on, though.
My main request is 4th floor near the elevator. I like the the top floor since the window opens. So even in March I can have a nice breeze of fresh air at nite.

It must be several years back that we started reading Mare's comments about Silverton. And I have thanked her several times for her posts that got us to take a look at Silverton. We've only been there 6 or 8 times I'd guess, and are looking forward to being there again soon.

What I've always marveled at is how Mare gravitated away from Silverton and then found her way back. Obviously, she has her pick of virtually any property in town and has come back to Silverton. I for one do not think it is because of the lousy attitude of the employees there, or lax housekeeping practices. Just guessing.

I'm not protective of Silverton at all......if you are a good vp player, or a big spender, or worse yet both, kindly stay away. I don't need the competition.

OK then"Miss I get to go to Vegas at least once per month", what is your fav Hotel? There are some of us who are interested in your opinions, posts, and TR's
That's a tough question, Bill. I like Silverton for certain things -- love the decor or the suites, but don't care for the darkness of the bathroom in them or the flushing problems the toilets seem to have. I love that the casino is small. Love the diversity of games. Love how well I'm treated, but don't like that I'm not anonymous when I want to be. Things don't always work as well because it's an older place, but I can live with that (for the most part). Food selections are good. I get decent offers.

I get a better deal at Excalibur now -- much more free play than at Silverton (more than double), always get a suite, my food is taken care of, and our fabulous host always sends me a nice gift basket, champagne, and chocolate covered strawberries. I also feel luckier in the Excal casino than I do at Silverton these days.

But I can't say that either one is my favorite. I still love things about Caesars, Palazzo, Red Rock, GVR... There are just too many places in Vegas to consider just one when you go once a month!
Hi,
I don't know if you meant the question for me (I wish we did go every month) but my favorite hotel is Sunset Station and for most of the same reasons that mare likes Silverton. Smaller hotel, treated nicely, good sized rooms and bathrooms, nice atmosphere and just layed back. I have never had a problem with being anonymous though, maybe someday. But pretty doubtful with my low roller status. My second choice would be the Orleans. Keep all the reports coming, how about Eastside Cannery any good???

My 2 cents……

I’ve stayed at Wynn and had a bad experience with one of their employees. Based on that experience I would not cross them off my list. I complained in writing and was done with it.
I felt my experience was the exception and not the rule. My point being, no matter where you are, you can find an annoying employee.

In reference to Silverton I have stayed there many times and have always had my room cleaned in a reasonable amount of time. In fact, I was there Dec 20-23 and my room was cleaned by 10am daily.
My room this trip had a broken coffee pot, I wrote a note to the maid and she replaced it. However, it has happened to me, the room not being cleaned elsewhere and is highly annoying.

I think of Silverton as a value hotel/ casino and I think it’s one of the better IN ITS CLASS for players. If you’re into resorts, then not.

#1 for me is the games, the diversity of them and do they have what I like? Second, the marketing offers my play generated. Third, the treatment.

For me and my level of play and what’s important to ME Silverton scores big. Another big factor is my family and they feel the same. They prefer value for their play vs. 5-Star accommodations with a lot less value for their play.

My level of play in a small pool/ value casino is tops and I feel a little pampered/ spoiled. My level of play would not generate Lakers tickets in the owner’s suite/ box, the day after New Years at a 5-Star Hotel/ Casino and this is the best kind of comp there is, afterwards I did not have to go down to the casino and play for it.

Best Regards,
Lolly
P.S. opps almost forgot, ask for non tent view.....lol our last trip we were on ground floor and my
daughter had a view of the tent.
I agree with Lolly. My requirements are clean hotel, comfortable bed, reasonable table minimums, easy in and out with the car to go casino hopping. The hotels on the strip are generally nicer and have more facilities, but the trade off is the traffic, the restaurant lines, the people traffic, and higher levels of play required for comps.
