tipping for room service, etc.

It's been a while since I have been in Vegas.
What is a fair tip for maid service these days? We tip daily. Does the quality of the hotel room affect how much you leave?
And while we're at it, how about those guys who take your luggage curbside? Or do you only tip them when they bring the luggage up to the room?
And how about car valet service? Coming and going?

Thanks for any suggestions.

We generally tip $5 per day for the maid, $1 per bag for the bell hop both the one who takes the bags out of the car and the one who delivers them.
Valet service we tip $3-$5 when picking up the car.
I appreciate good service and those who deliver it.

I tip $2 to the maid every other day in a regular room and $2/day when I'm given a suite. I tip the front desk clerk $10 if I'm upgraded to a suite ($20 if more than one night). I don't use a bell hop but have been told $1/bag...which I would give at delivery of everything in tact in the room. Valet gets $2 from me when I pick up my car but I seldom use it.

$3.00 for the maid in a reg. room.
I can NOT give less than $5.00 for maid service in a suite-- look how many spaces she has to check/clean!!
I leave a oil-slick-sugar-scrub dirty jacuzzi.

Maybe I SHOULD tip the front desk checkingling for a suite..Hmmm

$1.00 per bag at Bellcheck/ I never use valet or have anyone bring my bag to my room. My deceased parents would spank me for acting spoiled.

I travel with mom with both her walker and her luggage and my laptop computer.
Bellhops are life savers and worth every penny I pay them so that I don't have to worry about how to get her safely to the room without being knocked over and all of our belongings at the same time.

I tend to be an over-tipper. I usually do $5/day for maid (IF room is clean upon arrival and good service received thereafter.)I will tip the valet coming and going $5 each as I don't valet often and do appreciate the service.I tip the bell clerk $2/bag, or $5 min if I only have 2 bags, when delivered to the room. For room service, I'll give a tip over the automatic tip on the bill; usually $5. For the biohazard crew that cleaned up my son's vomit (on both beds and several areas on floor) I gave $20 each as they did such a good job with a smile. I give a minimum 20% tip for good service in restaurants. However, if the service is poor in any of these areas, nada

I usually tip $3/day for maid service. If service is good, I bump it to $5/day & leave a little note of appreciation for their hard work. I always lug my suitcase to the room, but the rule of thumb is $1/bag. I generally do not valet my car, but I did so on my last trip in September. We were staying at the Rio the same time as they were hosting the San Gennaro Festival--the parking lots were a nightmare. I tipped them $5 when I dropped off the car..which always got me a big smile and a priority status when I returned. I never waited more than 3-4 minutes for my car all week. One morning I handed my ticket to the valet and sat down on the bench to await for the car along with a dozen other people. To my surprise and delight my car was first to arrive. The guy sitting next to me shot me a puzzled look as I was getting into the car..."hey, where the hell is MY car?" I tipped $2 when I picked up the car. More than I usually would tip at the valet, but they were constantly busy all week and I never had to sit and have a long wait for the car to arrive.

Glasses can affect your vision; especially when they have been emptied several times...........
Well, these days I tip more.
The value of the dollar has gone downhill.
It varies depending on the size of the suite.
$10 a day minimum.

In LV I only have carry-ons which I carry.
If my wife is along with her four-or-so bags,
I tip $10 at the delivery point.
I don't tip them at the pick-up point.
They all share their tips per shift.

Valet parking, I just tip $5 at pick-up.
If I'm in a hurry and want my car right now
then I give the boothling $5 in addition to the $5 to the delivery guy. This puts me on top of the list.

If I'm taking a cab then I give the whistle-blowing hailer $2 for opening my door.

Limos I give minimum 20%.

Recently in San Francisco I gave the limo guy
$5 for a $15 fare. He seemed happy.
He was stationed at the hotel so it was an impromptu no-reservation deal.

The round trip from SFO to our hotel by stretch was $120 plus the $20 I gave him
each way.

The street guy who approached me in San Francisco's Chinatown got $5 because he asked for help in a polite manner.

As I have said in the past, the amount of the tip
is a personal thing. There is no right or wrong
in how much or how little you tip.

I've been accused of being cheap before and....well....I guess here it may come again, but it's ok....

I tip $2/day for the maid in a regular room.

I tip the bellcheck $1/bag when I pick up my bags, but not when I drop them off.

I tip the guy that opens the cab door for me $1 for "good luck". It's always worth $1 of good luck...for him.

I tip servers 18% as long as service was satisfactory.

I don't tip the front desk, nor do I ask for a special room because I'm barely in it.

I tip cab drivers $2 for fares under $10, $3 for fares between $11-15, and $4 between $16-20, unless they're a total ass, in which they get nothing (only twice in 50+ cab rides).

On the few times I've had a car, I tip the valet $3 when I pick up the car, unless I've won inside, then I tip $5.

The one time I had a limo, I tipped $15 for a trip from the airport to the Riviera. It obviously wasn't a comped limo!

I've never had a slot hand pay so I don't know about that one. On my only VP Royal Flush (for $1000), it was at the bar and I tipped the bartender $20. I honestly only stopped there to catch a free drink. I plugged my $20 in (at Paris....Gustavo's bar) and ordered my bloody mary. When he came back I said the machine wasn't holding cards and I was moving. He said to let him call service. I said I didn't have a lot of time and I would just move. He said, "Lets try it one more time." It held the cards this time and I hit the Royal on the next hand. He brought me another quick drink to go and I gave him a $20. He seemed thrilled.
When I go to Vegas, I use the valet everywhere. I just go casino to casino and just give my car to valet. $2 for valet from me. If they leave my car parked in front or real close, I give them $4. I do $1 per bag with bell service. I never use to use bell service until our last two trips. I figured were on vacation, why not? As far as maid service goes, we never use it. We are very clean people and don't stay more than 3 nights. I throw the "Do not disturb" sign on the door handle and that's it. If I happen to have a couple of bucks or loose change left over, I leave it on the nightstand. I also tip the waitress when they bring us drinks while playing slots, usually $1.
