As your tone is starting to become condescending this will be my last comment on this particular thread.

Then I apologize since it was not meant to be.
I'm not a V/P player and never got on their comp radar.

I appreciate Marcr's explanation of how the convention business ties in with V/P's business model. I also appreciate the way he presents information without being overly emotional.
His posts are educational and informative, and I've learned lots from him over the years.

I do business with colleagues who every other year or so come to Vegas for meetings. They are not gamblers. They pay for rooms at Bellagio, shop, see shows and enjoy fine dining. They've been known to leave the meetings early so they can spend the rest of the weekend on their boat in San Diego. Not everyone who goes to Vegas is a gambler and/or expects to have their room paid for by gambling losses also known as comps.

Is changing its business model a smart move for V/P? Maybe, maybe not. Only time will tell.

Well, we will be reeling from HOW they went about "changing their business model" for the rest
of the year. Because I was looking forward to having earned another year of GOLD treatment
& comps & tourneys & FP, and hopefully Winning.

This is now over. We have had the rug pulled out from under us, with No warning. Shame on Ven/Pal.

So the universe being a mysterious thing.........lol.........

Yesterday I was at a major Convention in San Fran., and happen to be talking with one of
the Event planners! He mentioned rumblings of wanting to do same in Vegas next year? LOL

OMG, Guess where we informed him NOT to use for their Convention?

I hope S.F. gets a helluva a deal at LVH or Elsewhere. There ARE Other NICE Conv. Venues in Vegas.

I have been off the boards for a while and just checked back in yesterday since we will be Vegas in March. I have read through this entire thread and it is full of some really good information. I was in Vegas in October and stayed at the Venetian on a comp. We were with friends so I was concerned about keeping up my playing averages. I felt like I did even though it involved staying up late after everyone else went to bed.
Then - almost immediately all my mail from Venetian disappeared. I said "Well I guess I didn't play as much as I thought and they have downgraded me" But this was worse than downgraded, this was totally written off! I didn't know what had happened but now I do. I guess I feel better but I agree with CLV. What a waste of all that money I played through trying to maintain a status that is now meaningless.
I loved the rooms at Venetian but never really liked their attitude. I won't waste another dime on them.

Guess this means I can go ahead and cut up my Venetian Mastercard and start using my Harrah's Visa.
Well, as you know, CLV, I have not set foot in V
since the place opened.

I don't even have a player's card there. LOL

However, yesterday, I got an email from them offering
Sun-Thurs rooms for $149 with $100 food/entertainment
comp. LOL

See? They still send out stuff.
That's funny, jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj
I've been getting their email offers too. Of course they are happy to have you..........IF you pay.

The Ven/Pal casinos are worthless now. No Comps = NO play.

Well, I did what I said I was going to do.
Went to Palazzo Grazie booth on Wed. evening. Casino is mildly busy with Convention badge
wearing people. Just like I suspected. And hardly any of them playing.
Or if they do? You got ONE guy playing and 4-5 watching him play.

Had a conversation at the booth. 4 workers and Nobody in line or around. Sad.
You can tell they are worried about their jobs because, "these convention people DON"T Gamble"

Yes, the Players club booth KNOWS this too.
I cashed out the few points I had left.......and told them why. I don't think they blamed me.

I love this! I mean, I don't love that these people will potentially lose their job b/c the conventioners don't gamble, but I just can't get over not offering a slew of comped rooms to your players.

I fear I'm going to be a bit of a "picket line crosser" in April. I'm getting married and we're paying for a Prima Suite for 4 nights, but FWIW, I now WILL NOT gamble there like I had originally planned. I'll keep donating my gambing funds to the Empire and stay Diamond...at least they reward us Lemmings!

Sounds like a good plan snyder, and Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

I agree, CE/HET is so far reaping the bounty of our play, since were not splitting time & offers with V/P.
If CE/Het ever changes their model to anything resembling what V/P did? We'll be outta there too.
But I really doubt any other group is going to mimic this casino-suicidal model ala Sands.

I suppose if you have Convention space attached, and can sell rooms round the clock?
More power to 'em. But time will tell. Will their Spring quarter profits be better, with No gamblers?

Most of us players and longtime Grazie members, see this as a mistake of major proportions
to their bottom line.
But at this point? WE don't care.

V/P has burned their bridges. Good bye. What a waste.

CLV, so are you saying this is an excellent time for me to
obtain a player's card at the V?

The reason I ask is, you seem to be sending out a mixed message.

Please say how you really truly honest-to-goodness feel.

Otherwise, I'm on my way to the V!!!!!
