Can't hurt. The Mohegan execs did NOTHING to attract players to the casino. Hope the new management succeeds.
The place has no identitiy. Is it a "cool" hotel to just hang out in & spend lots of $$$ on food/drink/entertainment? Is it a luxory resort hotel manged by Hilton? Or is it a place for gamblers? Or is it a locals casino?
Right now it seems to be none of the above; thus it is empty.

What is the saying about real estate- locatin, location. location. If the Mohegan Sun/Virgin were on the strip it would do well. Foot traffic alone would make it profitable. I have stayed there 5-6 times and I really like the rooms. The video poker ($1 level) is OK. The restaurants and ice cream outlet are somewhat overpriced. Blackjack is 3/2 and they have Freebet. Atmosphere is laidback, unless there is some event going on. Valet service is great - there is free parking.
Staff just had a 2 day strike. I suspect they are losing a fortune

Not likely that the location is what's hurting them. The place did fine when it was the Hard Rock. But the HR incarnation did a lot to attract locals, realizing that it needed to appeal to both markets.

Kevin is absolutely correct. The legendary Sunday pool parties are a great example.

For sure. Too bad...did somebody drown or something to suddenly bring those to an end? I've forgotten the story on that.

They still have those parties at their other locations around the world (and they're still very popular, apparently), so I would imagine that the deal with Virgin included some kind of exclusivity clause. As far as I know, the parties continued right up until the place was sold.
And there was never any real risk of anyone drowning at those parties, because all of the artificial boobs acted as flotation devices.

Yeah, it was the ReHab, or something like that. They used to have a half hour reality show where they spotlighted staff and interactions with guests. Pretty sure HR has rights to it, since they have it that other properties, so Virgin couldn't do the same thing. I would think you could change the name, but Virgin may have also decided against just having the wild outrageous parties.
