What was the Plaza like before remodel

I am really impressed with the photos of the new Plaza rooms and the dining options. Plus they are offering great rates for the weeks I am going to be in LV in December. But some people said the rooms were noisy due to trains and that there was poor water pressure and drainage.

I am wondering if these will still be issues. Any thoughts.

Thanks
I only hope the thousand rooms arent occupied by curious guests filling tubs then draining them, next saturday night when i'm there. Having said that: trains run right behind the property. Is it better or worse than the FSE? You pick. I loved the south facing mini suites in the south tower, and the north tower rooms closer to the elevator with extra room. But I started lurking downtown at 4Q when just a puppy, and at the end of the last century, the vegas club got most of my business. The big issue with me at re-open....denom and paytable of JOB. I'd stay at the old plaza if they had 9/6. I even had a host, Dee! I'll be back on the 29th with a firsthand account. Good Luck!
I look forward to hearing your report. I just booked 3 nights on September 6-8. I figured that at $35.99 per night, if they don't have anything playable, I'll play somewhere else and not worry about it.

Hopefully, they'll have 9/6 JOB and reasonably easy room comps.
I have stayed at the Plaza a few times (comped) over the last few years. I never heard any trains as I believe the air conditioner drowned out It! 2 out of the 3 times I stayed at the Plaza I was comped a special shower that washed your ankles the entire time you were in the shower (northern humor for slow draining showers!) The old place was hurting but I was treated well with comped rooms, $7.77 buffets, and comped Rat pack show tickets so I kept going back.

I am a little worried about being in the first group (s) to stay there. I get offers from the Golden Nugget down to $40 a night (same as the plaza) so I will stay at the G.N and give the Plaza a few months to get the new people trained and everything opened, and iron the bugs out. When the reviews "start coming in, the I will give them a shot.

I will be on Fremont Street in 38 days. Do they have any shows planned? Did they even keep the ballroom?

PS, why didnt you post this in the new 'downtown" forum?

To me it was a dump before they closed it. Had a "smell" about it that was not pleasant. My wife and I stay there many years ago when it was called the Union Plaza. Saw a great show called 'Nudes on Ice'. It was a well presented production and not what you might think by its name. No foul language, and very little nudity from the waist up.
