What's Happening at M?

I just got back from there and this is what I was told. They have been pretty much at capacity for several weeks and will be for several weeks. The are holding quite a number of conventions. They NEVER give conventioneers suites, so if you are a good player they upgrade you to a suite...and let me tell you...it is SWEET! I also "lost" my host a few months back and am now with Mark. He's great and even sent me a gift this time of a silver bowl of fruit and some other things. I had a lovely time, but was a bit taken back by the reduction of paytables for VP. That is what Penn has had to do with the hotel IMO.

The service was up to par, as was the buffet and other eateries I patronized. The hotel is small and if you aren't a heavy player--you must call and book ASAP to assure there is room for you.
All they ever had going for them was nice rooms and a terrific waiting line for their buffet. Neither of those can attract me.

I booked a trip in late December through my host at M. After I arrived, I found out she was no longer there. So I got a new host and tried calling her last week to book a room for the end of March, only to find that she had "left" also. I was also told that even though I had free room offers, I couldn't use them as the hotel was heavily booked for the days I wanted. I could come if I were willing to pay around $150/night. I was surprised because I had never experienced this problem at M before, and I said no thanks. I know M has stopped sending out the freebie gift coupons, and they've reduced the weekend multipliers, but is there something else going on with management that's not so apparent here?

Most appropriate response is "nothing."

"The are holding quite a number of conventions."

The GSA loved their convention

Penn just bought the Harrah's in St Louis and that is bad news as far as I'm concerned.

It was worth the trip to go to the M in the past but, even though it is a modern, new property...nothing there is worth the trip since we can enjoy at least the same benefits closer to the strip.

They will go in a cycle of driving away players by their recent actions and then realize that is a mistake and then reinstate the reasonable pay tables and comps.
Does anyone know if Penn National owns the Hollywood Casinos in Illinois? I was just on their site and noticed "MCasino" on their tool bar, I clicked it and up pops a picture of the M saying our newest Las Vegas Property. Did Hollywood buy the M or have they owned it all along? Is the casino host your talking about Wai-Mei, I believe she came from the Palms.

Yes, but they got proprietary pay tables.

Yes, she was my original host. She was extremely nice and very pleasant to deal with. I have no idea why she left.

My second host, I'm told, was on maternity leave, and should have returned by now. I'll find out when I go there next month. I'm not yet ready to give up on M, as there are many things I like about it.

It seems to me that many places in Vegas are in flux at the moment. I learned long ago not to get attached to any particular place, and also that people and policies come and go. In general, however, I think Vegas has been on a downward trend for the past several years, and that most of the people running things really don't know what to do, other than, perhaps, move their operations to Macau, like Steve Wynn. At the moment, there seem to be two main ways the people in charge at Vegas properties are trying to deal with things: catering to the more affluent, and, conversely, seeing how little the rest of us will settle for before we stop going altogether.
M just moved their Players Club booth to the Cashier cage!
When you visit Cashier..........you got the Players club folks in there.
Seems like its One stop shopping now. Players Club & Cashiering in same place. Felt weird.
So they let their Cashiers go?
This must be the new cost-saving way ta go. Someplace else did that too. (can't remember where)
But the M Players Club is still there, but definately not as busy as it used to be.

The place seems fairly dead. I mean the weekends, seem more like a weekday.
Wish they could return to their glory days, but seems on a downward trend, and don't
know IF they'll ever get it back?

Sounds like more corporate bullshit to save a nickel.Customer/service be damned.
