WiFi now free again at GVR if comped!

When we checked in to Green Valley Ranch, we were told that wi-fi is now free when the room is comped. This is a new policy (or restoration of the old policy) that was just implemented recently.

In the room, all you do is sign in on your computer, accept the fee, and use the wi-fi. The next morning you get the usual resort fee and resort fee credit in the TV (with a net balance of $0).

It doesn't appear that other resort fee benefits are now free as well when the room is comped. It wouldn't hurt to ask.

I also do not know if this is Station-wide, or if it is just GVR.

I stayed at GVR in August on a marketing comp. I was told that there was no free wifi with comped rooms. I was also told that, while I didn't have to pay the resort fee, I could not use the facilities (gym, etc.) unless the room was booked through my host. Since I booked the room directly, I was given key cards that could not access the facilities.

WiFi was free at GVR for a while, but now it seems to depend on who you talk to. The desk clerk has to enter a certain code at check in. It is linked to the room offer you have booked.

GVR may not still do this. Some desk clerks knew about it, some did not. Hosts did not know about it. I suggest you find the most knowledgable desk clerk and ask about it.

All I know is that we had free WiFi on two stays at GVR in the June-August period. The policy now is not clear.

Now, we stay at Sunset Station instead of GVR, where we stii get free WiFi without any fuss (it may be linked to my room offer, which is the standard calendar offer).

BTW, I am typing this now in my Sam's Town room - on free WiFi (room is comped).
