Your 1st Vegas hotel?

Hacienda in the mid 50's with parents...at least thats the first I remember, but we did all of them on the strip as they opened (my dad was a "wheel" in the motion picture industry).
First one on my own was the Palace Station about 18 years ago (on a flight/hotel get away)...last time I paid for a room in Vegas!
What a great thread, thanks for the memories... memory jogger...
1985 The Imperial Palace, my husband had gone in 1983 and 84 to the Continental...Then we stayed mostly at the Barbary Coast...
Friends took me to the Orleans and now it is the Orleans or Bill's
I have not heard of some of the casinos mentioned: but the descriptions are great.
I do remember the EL Rancho (?? near Rivera) in the old days my husband would play live poker there and at the Stardust..
That was before Holdem had a comeback. I would do alot of walking( can't do that safely any more) and liked the free tournaments at Westward HO. Most of all those old trips were in the 117 degree heat (but dry heat) LOL.

In 1991 was our first Hotel SANDS.
1993 San Remo on a package. About to make our 25th trip to celebrate our 33rd anniversary.

1992 Ballys. Arrived 6/22, married 6/24. Earthquake shook Ballys in the wee morning hours of 6/28. We were on a high floor and it felt like the building was swaying. I keep telling my wife I made the earth move on our honeymoon! She refuses to give me credit.
First trip started at a time share at Koval and Flamingo, but then we went and spent two nights at Fitzgeralds. So I guess the Fitz was my first. Maybe that explains my love of downtown. First hotel only trip was at the Flamingo. Still the only time I've stayed there.
1985 - Our first trip together, before we were married (me 28 she 29), Stayed at holiday inn (now harrahs) irst Vegas show - David Brenner at the Golden Nugget. Also, Roger Miller, Follies and of course Wayne Newton (when he could sing). 100 degrees and walked to Circus Circus (looked closer). Waiting in line for their giant cheap buffet. Have been back over 15 times since and in wonder of all the changes over the years. Vegas is our place.
I think I might have been to Vegas before this but the first trip I remember was about 1975 when I was stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. My lads and I decided to drive to Vegas to bowl in the worldwide military bowling tournament at the Showboat (rip). We drove to Phoenix the first night and crashed at my Auntie's condo. On day two we drove to Vegas. The tournament entry include a room for several nights but we had decided to go early and this being before Al Gore invented the Internet it was much more difficult to research room rates. We ended up booking the only place a bunch of soldiers could afford - The manor across the side street from the Circus Circus tower. Just about every year after that I bowled in the tournament and always stayed early in the Manor. On a recent trip I decided to drive by the Manor for old times sake. My God did I really stay there? I am guessing that back in the day many of you staying in the Circus Circus manor. What a place.
1998 Lady Luck.
Got my first comp buffet there. It was gross, but I was thrilled.
