Your 1st Vegas hotel?

Excalibur. It was almost new back then. lol
4 Nights about 6-7 years ago at the Gold Coast. Flew out there with friends who were suppose to get married. Good thing they changed their minds as a couple of month later had to do the 30 minute move him out thing. He and hubby planned the whole trip which was not a good thing as they planned nothing other than the plane (red eye) and hotel. Did the walk from the Flamigo to the Strat ( not a good idea)--didn't enjoy the trip at all as we ran all over and got nothing done. The only thing that did get done was playing Bingo (the activity that our friends girlfriend wanted to do).

We have went back 2-3 times a year since (a few with our friend--once again with someone he was going to marry-didn't work-again). I get to plan everything now. Wish I knew then what I know now.
In 1973 as an internal auditor for Brannif I attended a 3 day training on how to audit computerized payrolls.
I remember staying at the Landmark Hilton and the very long cab ride from the airport as the taxi driver took me to the I5, downtown, and finally to the hotel. The ride back to the airport was 1/4th the time. That was the last time I told a taxi driver I had never been there before. lol
But hey
The Landmark Hilton is gone
Brannif International is gone
But I am still around and kicking.

That reminded me of my 1983 travel package to Vegas. Flight from San Francisco, 2 nights at the Sands (great balcony room facing the strip) for (2) people, some freebies. $179 I think. I wish I still had those pictures.

Wow that was awhile back! Don't remember the year but we stayed at the DUNES. It was mid-summer. Played golf in temps around 108, it was a bitch. The Bellagio is now the location of the former Dunes. Walked across the street to the Barbary and learned to play BlackJack there.
Did actually win alittle money on the trip. hit 2 slots for $500. each which seemed like alot of money then. The MGM was across the street and it of course changed to Ballys. The town has changed so much since our first visit.
February, 1987 - Flew from Houston after our Wedding - stayed at the Showboat. Flight was delayed due to icy weather in Houston - had a melted ice bucket w/Champagne that my Grandfather has sent. A tradition was started...........
Spring of 1975; stayed 2 nights at a motel attached to the Chapel of the Bells Wedding Chapel on north LV Blvd not far from where the Strat is now. Drove non-stop from Wisconsin and were supposed to stay at my friend's uncle's house west of the strip. He was some big shot real estate guru....loaded. Arrived in Vegas around 7 PM and the SOB wouldn't let us stay at this house. Had to scramble to find a room....place was cheap, definitely below a Motel 6 quality. I think we paid $19 a night....only slept in the room a couple of hours each night. Can't recall exactly how we ended up there, but I laugh every time I drive down the north strip and go past that place.
Damn, double post......
Wow...this answer may prove I am the oldest poster on the board. My parents had clipped a coupon from Vegas and brought it back to Ohio....it was in the 60's...I am sure if I dug out old pictures, I could find the exact year. However it was at the Westward Ho...and the room rate was $7.00

That was it...we were hooked...The Circus Circus was brand new...you had to pay an entrance fee to walk in the front door. I bet none of you remember that...

We have been back every year since then...but that was the first one...
