coins in slot machines?

This might be a silly question, we will be in Vegas in May, and I was wondering, if the slot machines in Las Vegas still accept coins? I know a lot of the Indian Casinos dont anymore.
No, most casinos/machines in Las Vegas (or anywhere) do not use coins. There was a mention on LVA that a casino Downtown has one machine that takes coins, maybe a few machines. Maybe some posters here can point you to where there are some.

Almost everyone has some nostalgia for the coin-droppers of yore. I remember the fun ritual of going to the bank before each trip and buying a few rolls of quarter and nickels to get started with.

But it is better to not have to lug the coin cups around; stand in long lines to cash the coins in; wait for an attendant to do a coin fill when your machine runs out while still owing you $2.30.

Casinos have machines for cashing your TITOs (TICKET IN/TICKET OUT) and/or breaking your bills into smaller bills.

The TITO system is good for the casino companies. No need pay attendants to push coin carts around 24/7; you play faster (and lose faster) using bills. Instead of inserting 3 quarters at a time and pulling the handle, you insert maybe a $20 bill and push the button, generally at a faster rate than when you inserted coins.

Also, many people leave town with small (or large) TITOs they forgot to cash out. TITOs have expiration dates printed on them. Casinos are pretty accommodating when you bring one back past the expiry date, but they don't have to be and that money goes back to them. In horseracing they call it "breakage", the amount from winning tickets not cashed in within a certain time period.

Good luck. Hope you find some coin-droppers.
